About Me

I love baseball (Angels!), football (Steelers!), going to games, working out, hanging out with friends, wine tasting, road trips, summer Sunday-night BBQ's, playing pool, traveling, and kickin' back and watching a movie.

I'm very lucky to have a lot of very close friends. My mom tells me that my grandfather used to say "show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are." I bet he would be happy to see that I'm surrounded by smart, funny, successful people who are always there when I need them.

My Interests

Baseball, politics, my friends, my family, my house, travel, working out, music, and photography.

Here's a shot I took of the Sacramento waterfront at dusk.

And here's one I took in San Francisco in the evening fog...

Oh, and I love airplanes. Here's a shot of my cousin Michael and friend Bill in front of the Concorde at the Smithsonian at Dulles Airport near DC.

I don't know if you can call law school an interest, but at $20,000/year tuition, I guess I should be interested in it.

On the other hand, I don't spend quite as much on Guinness, but I find it much more interesting.

Hillary in '08 (or Obama...or even Borat, just as long as it's not Bush).

I'd like to meet:

Friends who are loyal, honest, unselfish, with a good sense of humor, people who share my interests who I can learn from and who can learn from me too. Here's a pic of me and Dave in SF for New Year's 2006. Dave definitely has all of those qualities.

Here are a couple of my friends walking in the middle of the Russian River at Monte Rio. At its deepest point, the river was only about 3.5 feet when we were there last summer.

Music:

If it's a great song, it doesn't matter what category it fits into. Now if I could only sing or dance a little better myself, that would be nice. In the last few years I've listened to more country than anything, thanks to Derek and Jeremy. I might be the only one whose iPod goes from Brad Paisley to Frank Sinatra, then from U2 to Kylie Minogue and then into some house mix. Oh well...that's just me. I've also been addicted to American Idol lately, but maybe just to see if Paula's high this week or not.

Movies:

One word: Netflix.

Went to see Dreamgirls, loved it. The new Bond flick was good too. Haven't seen a lot of other movies in the theater lately, I just wait for Netflix.

My favorite movies are Cars, Chicago, Brokeback Mountain Girls Will Be Girls, and Titanic. Another one of my favorite classics is the 1952 John Wayne/Maureen O'Hara movie, The Quiet Man.

Television:

I mainly watch sports, especially baseball and my Angels, and of course the Steelers or Fighting Irish when it's time for football. The only weekly shows I'm hooked on right now are Boston Legal (Denny Crane!) and the Tonight Show on Mondays because I love "Headlines".

Books:

I have enough to read for school right now, but maybe I'll read a real book sometime in August after I spend 600 hours studying all summer to take the bar exam.

Heroes:

Teachers, firemen, policemen, soldiers, sailors, airmen, doctors, nurses, and all people who make it possible for us to live every day who we too often take for granted, and of course my parents too. There have been 10 different Presidents of the United States since my parents got married. That's dedication. Here are my parents with Dave, and also a pic of Victor. My dad served in Vietnam, and Dave and Victor both served in Iraq...and Dave is back there again now. I am proud of all of them and grateful for their service. I am also proud of my parents for being married 46 years!

Stranger.

The last quote I had on my profile came from a Paul McCartney song called "Fine Line" and it said, "There's a fine line between recklessness and courage."  That summed up how I felt about leaving...

Senseless Act

Last night just before 8 o'clock, I was in Natomas at my friend's housewarming party.  At the same time in Elk Grove, a crazy gunman was shooting people at random, and one of those people died.&n...
