About Me

I work, I go home, I stay up too late. I operate on 4-6 hours of sleep, and I hate coffee more than you can imagine, so I've picked up a rather expensive Red Bull habit.

I enjoy living in a rut and trying nothing new. I enjoy having consistent things like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night traditions that don't change much. So, that might be boring to some, but I like to think I'm fun to hang out with anyway. People associate three major things with me: my obsession with football, my poker-playing and my affinity for country music (drinking beer, praising God and chasing women...you find me a genre with better subject matter). My conservative politics would probably get a mention as well. John McCain for President in 2008.

I have a memory that is so accurate, it's creepy. If you've said it to me at any point in my life, I just might remember it, no matter how trivial it was. If you're my friend, you probably already know this and are annoyed by it because I throw it in your face occasionally when you contradict something you said five years ago.

I'm deeply non-confrontational and will only leave my comfort zone if I REALLY feel like I have to. Please just let me enjoy my nice comfortable rut.

Oh, and in case you wondered, here's what's wrong with me.

Pretty dang accurate, honestly.

My Interests

I'm a huge fan of the Seahawks, Cougars, and whoever is playing the Huskies. I love poker and don't understand why so many people slowplay every freaking time they flop a set. I'm big on my country music and go to as many concerts as I can. And I enjoy watching movies, though I don't indulge in what most people refer to as "fun" movies, because that's code for "mindless action garbage."I greatly enjoy writing. As you can see, I crank out lots of blog entries. The majority is focused on sports, but I'll also write about politics, movies and other miscellaneous things.

I'd like to meet:

I mostly just use this to communicate with people I already communicate with offline. But, I have reconnected with a few old friends on here too. That's a good thing.

You Are 80% Capitalist, 20% Socialist
In general, you support a free economy and business interests.
You tend to think people should fend for themselves, even when times get tough.
However, do think the government should help those who are truly in need. Are You a Socialist or Capitalist?

Music:

Brad Paisley, George Strait, Sara Evans, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Sugarland...oh let's face it, I like almost everything that country radio spoonfeeds me. Over 80% of my iPod is taken up with country music, but I like something in almost every genre.Oh, and here's a short list of popular bands who don't even remotely approach their level of hype... The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin. The Rolling Stones. Pearl Jam. The University of Washington Marching Band. I don't like any of the above, at all.

Movies:

The Godfather Trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, As Good As It Gets, A Few Good Men, Primal Fear (and basically anything with Ed Norton). I could go on forever but those are some all-time favorites that come to mind right away.

Television:

I'm converted. 24 is my new favorite show.Lost would be my other favorite. Then I degenerate into shows that only women are supposed to watch, apparently. Alright fine, here is my trio of guilty pleasures: American Idol, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy. Feel free to make fun of me about these.Oh, and now I'm kind of getting into Heroes. I've made it through 16 episodes of season one, and should be caught up pretty soon.

Books:

I like The Bible more each time I read it. Not having a natural liking for reading, I don't usually make time for much else.

Heroes:

Jesus Christ, Ronald Reagan, Matt Hasselbeck and Brad Paisley (in about that order, with a big drop-off in between each).

My Blog

Moving my blog.

I don’t log into MySpace as much as I used to, and don’t really like this layout/format for blogging either, compared to some alternatives.  I’m going to continue blogging, and ...

I retract my endorsement of Huckabee for President.

I can no longer support Mike Huckabee as my primary candidate for president. He impressed me in the early debates; he impressed me in pretty much all of the debates.  I liked it when he stood up...

NFL Picks (Week 16)

I didn't get a pick in for last night's game...I expected a Steeler win, but for the Rams to cover the 10.5 point spread, which they didn't.  The thing is, despite the Steelers' convincing win, I...

NCAA bowl game predictions, 12/21-12/27

Utah's win over Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl kicked off bowl season, and it was a pretty solid football game.  I won't possibly be able to sit and watch all of the bowl games, I probably won't eve...
