Cincinnati, OH, borned and raised. Thats my people, 513-Cincinnasty. I recently moved from the little town of Prescott, AZ to Portland, OR but I've been all over and have made many a place my home. I graduated from Prescott College with a degree in Adventure Education and Human Ecology/Cultural Studies and as a senior project, began a research involving the Ngabe indigenous people of Costa Rica and Panama. As this region of the world continues to become the tourism mecca, an undesired shift in the Ngabe culture may be inevitable. However, my goal was to introduce ways that they can educate outsiders about who they are as a people instead of having the American dollar influence their lives in a negative way. This would result in the Ngabe maintaining their way of life while the outside world (you and I) becomes that much more conscious of co-existing planet.
I moved to Portland with a band called Alder Dice. With Dice and other projects, I've been so very, very privileged to share stages with: Zilla, EOTO, STS9, Pnuma Trio, BLVD, Perpetual Groove, New Monsoon, Organik Time Machine, Delta Nove, The Motet, Blue Turtle Seduction, and many more, including all those amazing musicians that threw down at Gem and Jam '07 and Emerge+N+See '08. At the moment, the Dice boyz are individually doing their own thing, but DeeP Duo (myself and Peter Clark) and Off The Grid (which you're listening to right now, with bassist Jazzy Jeff and keyboardist Asher Fulero) are two projects morphing out of Alder Dice, both using solar panels to fully power stages. My music is my life and means of expression. I've been playing music since I was a lil' kid (AKA what!), and don't plan to stop any time soon.
