I am here for Friends

About Me

I’m a happily married (to Teresa) middle-aged guy who works at CDC in Atlanta and lives in Atlanta’s northern suburbs. I have two sons (one at Sequoyah High School, and the other at Dean Rusk Middle School) and a big old Black Lab named Whitefoot. At the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, I’m an IT Business Specialist. I’m originally from the medium-sized town of Rome, Georgia. I’ve lived in Atlanta now since 1986, and I expect that I’ll retire here. Teresa and I will probably move back to the North Georgia mountains when we retire.

My Interests

I enjoy reading when I can find the time. I stay very busy with both boys in the band. I enjoy being a roadie for the Sequoyah High School Band of Chiefs. I'm a bit of a history buff, and I particularly like exploring old cemeteries. It's amazing what you can learn from wandering around an old cemetery. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster with BSA Troop 625 in Woodstock, but I've been pretty inactive lately.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone, and no one. I like people in general, but I can't think of any particular person that I have a burning desire to meet.

Music:

I have pretty diverse musical interests. I grew up with Classic Rock, and particularly love Southern Rock. I hate that I didn't go to concerts much back when Duane and Berry were still with the Allman Brothers, and before Lynyrd Skynyrd had their plane crash. Since then I've developed an appreciation for Country Music, and particularly Bluegrass. I would have never imagined THAT 30 years ago.

Movies:

I see an occasional movie and like comedies, thrillers, and action movies. It doesn't get much better than Animal House, or a Mel Brooks movie. I particularly like M. Night Shyamalan's work.

Television:

I don't watch much television. Who has time? I try to catch Prison Break and House when I can.

Books:

Anything about American History is good, particularly the Civil War. Patricia Cornwall's Kay Scarpetta series is a good read. Any of Rick Bragg's books about his Southern relatives is great.

Heroes:

Airmen, Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors serving their time in service to the country. I put in 3 1/2 years in the Air Force, but I was lucky that we weren't in a war during that time.
