I love to travel. Looking forward to going somewhere new and interesting all the time. Food and wine. Dining out, pairing it with great wine and entertaining conversation, perfect. I also love to read, movies, music and the biggest waste of time TV. I almost forgot my most important interest is my dog Tug. He is my baby and the reason I wake up every afternoon
Fun, witty people who will make me laugh. I would also like to meet old friends, but not old people because the smell like moth balls and crap. Also I need friends with a good memory. Mine, not so good Al.
I have extremely varied taste in music. It ranges from Barry Manilow to Tool. Old standbys: James Taylor, Jonie Mitchell, Barry, CSN, Beatles, Bob Marley. Regular Playlist: Fiona Apple, Dixie Chicks, Chilli Peppers, Coldplay, Police, The Shins, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, yeah twice, Madonna, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Counting Crows, Smashing Pumpkins, Fugees, Sublime, Beastie Boys, Jay- Z, Tribe Called Quest, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Ludacirs, Nelly etc. etc.
I really like movies and if you were to ask me about a movie I could give my opinion but I do not obsess about film in general. I find myself quietly remembering and laughing about the same few all the time.....Zoolander, There's Something About Mary, Bring It On, Young Frankenstein, The Jerk, and Austin Powers Man of Mystery. And if I have the time to watch in completion the four hour A & E version of Pride and Prejudice I will because it is my favorite. I'll probably go to the movies today. I could be at the movies right now.
Since the creation of DVR I have never enjoyed television more. I watch, HBO first: Sopranos, Big Love, Deadwood, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ali G. And the rest: Grey's Antamony,Project Runway, Scrubs, Sons and Daughters, The Office, My Name is Earl, CSI:, ER, Gilmore Girls, Related (both guilty pleasures), Daily Show, Colbert Report, and what ever mind numbing crap MTV is currently showing. I don't know why but I watch. I also will watch various programs on HGTV but nothing that is filmed in Canada because I can not stand their accents. Yep, I'm Anti-Canadian.
As previously mentioned above, anything Jane Austen. I also will read and reread anything by David Sedaris. Everyone else: Jennifer Weiner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Adriana Trigiani, Harper Lee, Malcolm Gladwell, James Joyce, John Knowles, Nick Hornsby, John Steinbeck, Dorothy Parker, and lots more. I am constantly buying and selling back books, as well as stealing them from friends and family. Then selling the books I stole back to the store.
I am not a big on personal heroes, most likely because I am a cynical person but there are a few people I admire. And the list goes a little something like this: FDR, Elenor Roosevelt, Madeline Albright, JFK, Oprah, Noam Chomsky. Basically I respect and admire anyone who sees injustice, cruelty, and the basic absence of human rights and will do something to correct it. It is not important just to have great ideas on how to make the world we live in or the world around us a better place, it is important to act on your ideas, or the great ideas of others, to give a decent life to everyone, especially children. People who do this I admire and call heroes. I am too lazy or distracted to actually be one of them but I am working on it. Honorable Mention to my family: Dad, Mom, sisters, and nephews.
