This one’s going to be even bigger than the last -we’re flying in Steve from SOULWAX for an exclusive one off DJ set as ONE MAN PARTY, plus we celebrate the return of NY producers DESIGNER DRUGS, who absolutely smashed it in Sydney 09, AND our other favourite electro darling LE CASTLE VANIA from LA who’s bringing a stack of new rave/rock inspired tracks, and if his US shows are anything to go by, will most probably end up crowd surfing. With another 20+ of Sydney’s best locals thrown into the mix, the sweat should be dripping off the Arthouse ceiling by 1am!
ONE MAN PARTY (Steve Soulwax/ bezerk Belgian)
After having been witnessed going berzerk on the dancefloor by his band/DJ mates for the umpteenth time, Steve Slingeneyer was affectionately nicknamed ‘One Man Party’ by James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem, and the nickname stuck. Known for both his skills as a drummer in the band Soulwax and also for his skills as a DJ – something the soulwax boys had all been into long before the band was born. As One Man Party, Steve has to date, shared the stage with the likes of 2manydjs, Justice, Mixhell, Busy P and Vitalic, amongst others.
He is especially known for energetically throwing and mashing many genres of music into his DJ sets; as well as being one of the few DJs who can actually dance.
LE CASTLE VANIA (So Sweet/LA)
Touring nonstop since 2006, Le Castle Vania has played alongside some of today’s hottest acts, such as Justice, MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Busy P, Uffie & Feadz, Kavinsky, Soulwax, Surkin, Para One, The Presets, Steve Aoki and Crystal Castles. However, Dylan prides himself on more than simply pushing vinyl for the masses. He’s also an avid producer and engineer; when not on the road he’s locked in the studio writing tracks from scratch and remixing his favorite bands. His signature sound blends grinding disco punk with strong electronic beats and catchy synth leads, resulting in banging electro music that is dark and dirty but somehow equally uplifting and dancey. Thanks to his riotous DJ sets and penchant for production, Le Castle Vania has become a household name in the indie-electro scene worldwide.
DESIGNER DRUGS (iheartcomix/NY)
Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson lead lifestyles of the rich and famous, but are really just poor boys who love helicopters and pop banger music…and a few other things that we won’t mention. With one member attending med school and the other drinking whiskey across the globe, to keep from going crazy last year Designer Drugs did over 23 remixes and DJ’d over 100 shows around the world, including a sold out Sydney show that left the crowd sweaty, panting and in need of a post-fuck cigarette. This year, to keep from going crazy, Designer Drugs is putting the focus on original material (releasing on iheartcomix) while continuing to tour the galaxy and rock out harder than ever. You haven’t partied til you’ve partied with Designer Drugs!
