Kansas City Shockers Minor League Football Team

About Me

What exactly is minor league football?Minor league football, sometimes called semi-pro football, is a sport organized like any other, made up of players who love to play football (as they did in high school, college and/or professional), but who otherwise are unable or disinterested in playing at the professional level. A few players use the minor league system the North American Football League, to condition themselves to rise to another level, mainly Arena Football.Scores of minor league football leagues exist in the United States and Canada, some of which are made up of hundreds of teams. The Shockers belong to the North American Football League (NAFL), which boasts 114 teams in 23 divisions in eight regions in four conferences. The Shockers belong to the North Central Division of the Mid West Region in the Northern Conference. Each league has its own year end championships and title games. The North American Football League hosts its championship game at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL.Who owns the Shockers? While the Shockers were founded by Chad Bosley, Ryan Bauer, Dustin Cundiff and Robert Webb, the main man in charge now is General Manager and Chief Finacial Officer, Otis Patterson. Although, everyone in the front office does have a say and everything comes on a vote, like a comitee. How old are the Shockers? The Shockers began play in the Spring/Summer of 2004. 2006 begins the Shockers third season of play. In just two season the Shockers have a 21-7 record while outscoring their opponents 990-385. In their second season, 2005, they went 13-2, winning their rivalry trophy game nicknamed "The Border War", went 8-0 in North Central Division play, won the division as well as the Mid-West Region, going 2-1 in the playoffs.Do the players get paid?Believe it or not, no. In fact, no one affiliated with the Shockers gets paid, except for the officials and security personnel on game nights. Everyone else, 60 sum players, 5 coaches, a General Manager, a president of football operations and a handful of board members do this for the love of the game. Some minor league teams do, indeed, pay their players a nominal amount, usually in an effort to attract better talent, but not the Shockers.
