THE CHIWAWAS ARE...
"THE" John Culbertson (Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, and occassionally Keyboards) -- Pimp my In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Babeee!
John is originally from Texas and has had his foot in just about every musical genre since he first began playing guitar and piano at the age of 14. He has played with many outstanding groups in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and New Mexico, including the privilege of opening up for such musical greats as Bad Company, Styx, Charlie Daniels, and Little Feat. He has also spent a significant amount of time performing as a solo artist on piano and classical guitar.
Chris "8-Ball" Hall (Lead Vocals & Lead Guitar) -- The Reverend Father Hall says, "Nirvana, is just an effects-pedal away, child!"
Chris is originally from Pennsylvania. He spent years on the road touring with bands, theatrical productions, various shows and the circus either as a musician, lighting tech or soundman. His first instrument was the clarinet which he started playing in 5th grade. Since then he has learned to play various instruments including the guitar, which he started playing in 1980. Keep an eye out for Chris' 8-ball guitar, it's a screamer!!!
Tommy "Hugh Mungus" Martinez (Lead Vocals and Bass) -- Da mang got more friends than Will Rogers!
Tommy grew up in Northern New Mexico and has been playing in rock and folk bands since the age of 14. The day he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan he knew what his goals would beand that was finding a way for women to scream and faint with passion when he performed. When that didn't happen, he turned to playing for the enjoyment of it. Musically, his influences include Phil Lynott, Paul McCartney, Gary Thain, John Paul Jones, and Tom Petty. Tom has had the privilege of opening up for Ray Charles, The Outlaws, Bachman Turner Overdrive, and Jerry Jeff Walker.
Jim "Juke-Joint-Animal" Beyer (Lead Vocals and Drums) -- Animal don't need no stinkin cell-phone! Ring-a-ding-ding the ol' fashion way, sweet cakes!
Jim has been playing drums and percussion since 1975. In his hometown of Avon Lake, Ohio, he participated in the school music program and several local rock bands. Afterwards, he was accepted into the U.S. Marine Corps Band program, was assigned to the Headquarters Band in New Orleans and performed all over the country, including a performance with Natalie Cole at the New Orleans World Fair. Jim played for several years in the Kansas City scene -- now living in Albuquerque, he is performing with Iron Chiwawa, and several other area bands.
