Each was a point of origin for the members of Vanguard, an ascension of musicians who joined forces a decade ago in one of Funk's most celebrated cities, Minneapolis, MN. Vanguard composed, produced, recorded, and performed their own unique blend of vibrant funk, pop & soul, quickly rising to the top of the scene. While P-Diddy was stealin the soul out of old classics, Vanguard was in the studio creating original gems. They showcased their high energy performances weekly at Princes Glam Slam nightclub & ripped up the stage with the likes of P-Funk, The Ohio Players, Zapp, Rick James & The Gap Band, all the while garnering critical acclaim, media coverage & countless awards. On the heels of releasing their much anticipated Play, Vanguard began receiving national attention and appeared prime to take it to the next level. But it was not meant to be. After a mind blowing set opening for the Roots in front of record executives at CBGBs in New York, the nine member band imploded and have not been heard from since.
