I create sculptures and textural pottery in my very cool studio that has a window facing the west where the sun sets, right on the water. Upstairs, our kitchen table surrenders to my drawing, painting, and other creative endeavors. We eat on tv trays and enjoy every minute of it. Eric is an amazing cook.
The sculptures and pottery are very different from each other, so my inspiration derives from a few different things. I'm driven by our garden and the flowers that bloom within it. Nature, growth, life; life experience and love also fuel my passion. My sculptures are somewhat unplanned; I do let the clay do a bit of the talking. Most of the images depict certain emotional stages of my life.
I am often commissioned for drawing portraits and lately outdoor scenes.
I show my work at Arlene Hecht's Gallery 333 every summer in Falmouth.

Golden Gull in Plymouth, Sail Away Studios in Wareham also display my pottery, and have for years.
I won third prize for drawing at the South Shore Art Center November 2008, first prize for sculpture in the summer of 2007, as well as first prize for pastels during the winter of 2007 and second for pencil in 2008 as well as 2004 at the Cape Cod Art Association. At the Duxbury Art Association, I won third for pencil in the winter of 2007.
Since I enjoy people, I like to draw figures for practice with shade, light, proportion and muscle tone. I primarily work with graphite and prismacolor pencils, but lately I've been using pastels. I absolutely LOVE my home and studio.
My work changed considerably when I moved from Boston to this remote renovated cottage,
(a Swiss Chalet actually)
tucked in the large pines, right on the Wankeco River,
to live with my true love, Eric. We reunited after 15 years of living completely different lives. It's a great story and I'm fond of telling it. He is the drummer in two bands. The Rogues and the Downbeat 5, the latter with my sister Jennifer as lead singer, who ironically was responsible for introducing us when we were 19, when we dated for the first time.
I teach Basic Drawing at Quincy College and Kid's After School Art Studio at The Plymouth Art Guild. I enjoy teaching very much. The people I meet are wonderful and add quite a bit to my life. I also make production pottery, load and fire kilns at Salt Marsh Pottery in Dartmouth. It's a wonderful place to work. I love the location, the people I work with, and what I learn from all of them is truly valuable.
Eric is a fantastic carpenter, and in his free time does incredible things to our house. His true passion is fishing. I've learn to depict striper fish in many mediums.
We have sculpted a rock garden together, where Eric built the fish pond in the front yard. It's a really cool place to live. We have a boat in the river in front of our house. I'm happy to say it's a vast change from living on top of my neighbor in Boston. I also have never been so loved before. Happiness doesn't really quite describe it well enough....
