Hertz The Turks

About Me

OUTPUT: Music. Rockin', Sometimes danceable, usually loud, never dull.
BEGAN: late 2005. Yokohama. After several beers.
CURRENTLY: Whipping the live houses of Japan in to a frenzy and fast becoming the darlings of the Tokyo scene.
WHY?: Quitting hotly tipped UK DEATH JAZZ COUNTRY outfit Debris Slide, then his home country for more asiatic climbs, Dave found Japan oddly receptive to his brand of music. Recruited the Ladies and they got to work on some songs. Played their first gig after 3 hasty rehearsals to an ecstatic audience. Kaz, then Shiori, then Jacob called it a day, so we went antipodean, picked up Glenn hanging around the sports pubs and havent looked back. Been hocking their wares ever since.
HOW? Due to the broad geographical spread of members the Turks (and the Japs and the Yanks and the Limeys and the Kiwis) have a Smorgasbord of influences to draw from (although there is no Danish blood in the mix) which helps explain the mix of heavy guitars, hopping beats and bouncy pop melodies. We call this approach to writing the SUPERIOR CROSS CULTURAL GENRE SPLICING AURAL ARTICULATION METHOD.Actually we dont really call it that as it is a rather cumbersome title and would be inappropriate for day to day conversations. Also, it's not entirely unique as numerous bands have members from different cultures. For example, the velvet underground had a violin player from Wales, who nowadays speaks with a trans-atlantic New York/Merthyr tydfil accent and sounds a bit daft. However, we did come up with the name SUPERIOR CROSS CULTURAL GENRE SPLICING AURAL ARTICULATION METHOD. John Cale didn't.
WHY ARE YOU CALLED HERTZ THE TURKS? Because one of us is Turkish and it rhymes, stupid.
