About Me

BuffMySpace.comWell, It all started over eight years ago when I moved from my home town of Durham City to the bright lights of Leeds, I'd always been interested in music but around the age of 18 I started to realise that maybe I'd like to have a crack at that DJing lark and instead of going out to buy the latest CDs or mix tapes, I could go out and find the records and make my own. Despite growing up listening to Hardcore and then getting into UK Garage once moving to Leeds I decided to try out Funky House (which I started enjoying listening to around the same time as UK Garage) because I thought it would be easier to track down the best records and biggest tunes with Leeds being one of the front runners in the House scene. After a few weeks of buying records I became aware of a genre that had very close links to UK Garage which was starting to blow up in Leeds and that was 'Speed Garage', Funky House soon took a back seat and I went about collecting as many Speed Garage records as I could, searching out those rare gems and taking the time to try and find those records that no one knew about, as that scene got larger and larger more producers started to appear on the scene and with most racing to get their productions released before others, alot of cheap sounding, rushed productions started to dominate what was in the record shops so I decided to move on and go back to the Funkier side of things, which luckily I'd always kept up buying bits and pieces. In the last eighteen months I've also moved in to the dirtier Electro House which I'm loving at the moment. Although I've been a DJ for coming close to seven years I've not had that big break to make it in to playing the clubs regularly, partly due to me being lazy and not pushing myself out there and partly due to the fact that I've always felt that if people are paying into somewhere then they deserve to be entertained properly and I didn't want to be one of those DJs who made the jump to play out before they were ready and start clanging mix after mix. I'll step up one day and try and promote myself to get the gigs regularly and I'd hope the experience of the past seven years would help make sure I'm not one of those DJs who make the step before they're ready but who knows, maybe it will, maybe it won't. I'm also a Sunderland AFC season ticket holder and follow them home and away as much as possible and I'm hoping this year we'll make our mark on the Premiership and become the top North East football team again
