I'm mostly interested in:
design
drawing
manga/anime
GuildWars (online game)
horror movies (a subject I am VASTLY under-knowledgable of)
sleeping
watching movies (most often hollywood crap)
I love Golden age German films (1910ish - 1940ish)
I love comics (but only certain ones and I'm too poor to afford any of this junk mentioned here for myself usually)...
...and I love music - mostly metal of all kinds, but some other music too like Enya and also some 80s pop, 70s rock (well any old-school rock genre really) and SOME modern rock bands (such as Reflexion )...
...and lastly for now, I'm a bit of a cam-whore.
I'd like to meet:
A strange choice I suppose, but I'd love to meet Marilyn Manson. The appeal of his music has largely worn off, and I'm certainly not one of the sheep who adore him, but as an degenerate-artist and marketing genious he's very valid and highly under-appreciated.
Devin Townsend is another. He's a God, really. His vocals on Infinite and Vai are unmatched, and as a musician and producer I can't think of any other so ingenious. Vampira has got to be one of my favourite songs of all time, and I have pretty much every major release he's made in one form or other.
Rob Zombie would be another great person to meet I'm sure, although after seeing him on the set of House of a Thousand Corpses and The Devil's Rejects I was kind of disappointed by his less than commanding demeaner. He seemed so much quieter there. I'm sure I could learn alot from him as I do have an interest in making film (I made a really bad silent horror flick for a 1st-year Emedia project).
Two turnips in a veggie patch!
Music:
If I listed all the bands I listen too it'd take forever - even though I'm not as well researched as some.
Here's some of the current bands I enjoy listening to.
Anything by Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend Band and alot more)
Dark Tranquillity
In Flames (mostly old)
Dimmu Borgir
Venom
Metallica
Lord/Dungeon
Nightwish
Emperor
Enya
Rob/White Zombie
Mercenary
Hide
Gackt
Porcelain and the Tramps
Luna Sea
Glay
Penicillin
X Japan
Twisted Sister
Def Lepard
Motley Crue
Alice Cooper
Moi Dix Mois
Malice Mizer
...and I can't think of any others right now.
Here's the local (well local AND national stuff that I listen to and support with all my might).
Solar Thorn
Separatist
Zero Degrees Freedom
Psycroptic
Enlightened By Darkness
Lord
Movies:
I guess I'll throw in a fair few titles here because there's not THAT many movies I really considder good enough (for whatever reason) to mention.
Nosferatu (1922)
Nosferatu (1979)
Shadow of the Vampire
Evil Dead trilogy
Hellboy
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Dark City
Sin City (I guess)
Just about anything by Tarrentino (I have yet to see Hostel)
Airheads
Rockstar
Metropolis
Voices of a Distant Star
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Undead
Day of the Dead
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Begins
American History X
Red Dragon
Death to Smoochy
and I can't think of any more right now.
Television:
I won't add the anime I like to watch here because I never see them on TV, I have to buy the box-sets. But of the things on the box that I DO watch;
I like The Family Guy
The Simpsons
Southpark
Spongebob Squarepants
Invader Zim
Ren and Stimpy
Spicks and Specks
The Glass House
Six Feet Under
Nip/Tuck...
...and really don't watch any of those much anyway. Television just isn't really my thing.
Books:
Wow, as if I don't watch much television... I REALLY don't read much. I love The Chronicles of Narnia. Bottom Line.
I also enjoy the Lord of the Rings books (including The Hobbit) though I've not finished the series and the Tales of the Otori trilogy.
I have this lovely (beautifully) illustrated book called Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide the Fantastical World Around You.
And lastly I guess I'll mention three comic books. Well actually two of them are trade paperbacks (an entire short series of comics collected into one book) and one is a graphic novel I guess.
They are Transformers/Gi-Joe (Series 1 by Dreamwave Comics) which is set just before World War II,
30 Days of Night (by IDW Publishing) which is kind of a survival horror book about vampires attacking northern Alasca in an area that has 30 days of night because they're so close to the pole and finally...
...Sandman: The Dream Hunters (illustrated by my favourite artist Yoshitaka Amano of Vampire Hunter D fame).
Thats about all I'll ever put here. I rarely read.
Heroes:
Devin Townsend is a hero to me for sure. Such an amazing singer/song-writer/musician/producer/ and even a bit of a comedian (well by personallity anyway). Oh and I love his hair.
Marilyn Manson is, just because he's such an interesting artist in my opinion, although I don't pay so much attention anymore.
Rob Zombie would be I guess because I'm such a fan of horror movies.
Lord Tim of Dungeon/Lord because he's an amazing guitarist and vocalist and a really nice guy.
Yoshitaka Amano too, because he's an amazing artist.
My friend Tom for being one of the most over-active artists in history. He often inspires and motivates me out of my consistent state of apathy towards everything so KUDOS to him haha!
Hugh for being a funny bastard and someone who shares many of my art-world gripes and someone who I can theorise and argue with.
Ross and Rose and Chad and Morgan and Rob (aka Ellie) for being friends more than I could ever have hoped for.
