Razorwire was founded in Boston, MA in 1991. The original line up of Mike Chaos on vocals, Chris 'Noodles' Mello on guitar, bassist Dave Pratt and drummer Bill Close (of legendary Boston punk band the Freeze) quickly made a name for themselves on the local club circuit, with their high octane, no nonsense approach to punk. After five years and numerous live shows the band encountered a setback when original members Mike and Noodles moved to Austin ,TX, leaving bassist Dave Pratt to spend time playing in Boston with the band Out Cold and drummer Bill to resume his guitar duties with the Freeze.
A new chapter in Razorwire history began when Mike and Noodles moved back to Boston in 1998. Bassist Dave was glad to join his old mates in a slightly revamped lineup of the band. During the next year the band would re-establish themselves among the new crop of punk bands in the city of Boston. Razorwire also recorded and released a slew of new music in 1998 including the CD entitled "Caught in the Wire" a sort of retrospective, and appearing on a CD compilation "Banned in Boston" with other notable Boston bands such as Bastard Squad and Mung.
Guitarist Noodles decided to depart at the end of 1998, opting to go back to Austin, after which the band's drummer Mike decided to leave the band as well. Vocalist Mike and bassist Dave, not wanting to let seven years of hard work go to waste, recruited some new members to inject some much needed fresh blood. Jim Maxine already a veteran of Boston Bands All Systems Stop and the Dislexics, at the age of twenty one to play drums. The trio then recruited Scotty Montropolis of Boston's Bastard Squad to handle guitar duties. With tons of new energy the band went right to work writing, recording and playing shows.
Throughout 1999 and into the year 2000, Razorwire was as busy as ever releasing a 7" single called "Man the Guns" on Rodent Popsicle Records which garnered the band sparkling reviews in nationwide punk magazines such as Flip Side, Hit List and Suburban Voice. Followed by the song "Prophet" which was released on the Rodent Popsicle Records compilation CD "Another Boston Punk Comp".
The band broke up for good in the year 2000 with members moving on to Boston's the Fast Actin' Fuses and Austin, Texas' the Pink Swords.
