About Me

I'm a professional keyboard player living in Detroit, MI. I have my own group called The Brothers Groove and I also tour internationally with the Hiram Bullock band as well as work with many great players in and around the Detroit area including Johnnie Bassett, Perry Hughes, David McMurray, Ralphe Armstrong, Larry Fratangelo, Thornetta Davis, and many others. I started playing piano at 4.5 years old, 'been playing ever since. I enjoy most types of music and I don't think I belong to a certain "trend" or "scene". I do lean towards Jazz/Funk/Blues but I appreciate good music wherever I find it, whatever the style is. Chops/technical knowledge is fine, but it's not the end all be all. It comes down to feeling and intent whether it's bluegrass, jazz, or rock. If it touches me, I dig it. John Lee Hooker moves me in one way, Oscar Peterson in another. In my mind there are two types of music, Good and Bad. There's not much variety in art/culture being pumped through the airwaves but I've found many cool bands and people here on Myspace. (Yay, internet!) We can thank American Idol for suffocating originality in vocalists for the next 20 years (maybe longer). One of my favorite animals is the Buffalo (not hippo's). I have a sizable collection of keyboards (because I can't seem to sell them after I buy them) that started in 1984 and continues to grow by a board or two a year. I love good art, music, food, nature, and have an interest in technology/gadgets. I'm a big fan of "Attack of the Show." I've been able to perform and/or record with many great musicians (including Jeff Lorber, Bob James, Randy Brecker, Luther Allison, Lucky Peterson, Larry McCray, Sponge, Gene Dunlap, James Cotton, John Popper and Blues Traveler, etc.)

My Interests
