My name's Brett Callwood - music writer, or as I like to call it, dream weaver (copyright Garth Marenghi). I'm a Detroit based author and journalist originally from England. I write for the Detroit publications Metro Times, Essential Detroit and the website Metromix Detroit (in association with the Detroit Free Press) plus the national magazines Metal Edge, Alternative Press, Modern Drummer and Fangoria. I also write for the UK magazines Classic Rock, Bizarre, Rhythm, Guitarist, Total Guitar, Bass Guitar and Acoustic. I have previously been published in Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Record Collector, Terrorizer, Clash, Front and Skin Deep, and was once the reviews editor for the British Bluegrass News. In addition, I proudly contribute a column to the fanzine Bubblegum Slut because if I was to put together a 'zine of my own, it would be exactly like that. I also once contributed a section to The Wildhearts' tour programme, appeared on cable TV show The Pulse as the 'expert on the sofa', and I've performed the odd DJ set too. I've written press biographies for Detroit blues-rocker Michael Katon, singer / song writer Robin Horlock and English pop-rock band Vix N' The Kix (on my top friends list). Hit me up if you need a bio writing - the price is negotiable for unsigned bands. My debut book, a biography of the MC5, is out now through all good book stores, as is my new book, a biography of the Stooges. He recently wed his beautiful Toni and he has never been happier.
