About Me
I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)I grew up in upstate NY, in the Utica area, where my first band came together. All through out high school, starting in 8th grade, I ditched hours of homework just to play my guitar (and watch Seinfeld). My grades suffered but my playing got better no thanks to conventional lessons. I picked up a little here and there from friends and family but mostly let my ear guide me. Once friends and family couldn't teach me anymore, I got an electric guitar which allowed me to play metal...and metal I played. Metallica is what inspired me to play. If I couldn't play it, I learned it, and wanted more. Soon enough Metallica ran out of songs. Shortly after, while in college, a band formed. A friend/guitarist by the name of Andy, purposed to start a band. Eric soon hopped on the drums, who I met through a friend (Beaner, who once beat me with a wiffel bat) and a long time friend of mine, Brett, soon filled the position of bass.We blew. But it was a good blow. It wasn't like "man...these guys are awful", it was more like..."they could use some fine tuning". We sounded pretty good to anyone who couldn't play an instrument. Haha. We never did have a name, but typing right now...."These Guys" would have been a pretty cool name. Example: "Are we going to see "These Guys" play or what, Gertrude?" Gertrude is an awful name. Now that I think about it "These Guys" sucks as a name too. Anyway, having 20 cover songs and only one original, I quit and took Eric with me to write strictly original material. The two of us recorded a 4 song demo at Fredonia College, where the Goo Goo Dolls once recorded...yeah big deal I know, which we took to NYC to distribute and get feedback.Walking in and out of record companies with an under-produced demo and an under-developed two-man band, we heard nothing back. Hungry for change I asked Eric to move to California with me, long story short, knowing someone in Arizona, he agreed to Phoenix. There we formed a metal band by the name of "Militia", as a tribute to Metallicas "Metal Militia". It took us a couple months to get goin'. We picked up Tom, a dedicated and solid fixture to the band to play bass. Yet again, a band was formed. We played all over Phoenix and for little or no money. We kicked some pretty good ass though. A year passed and we hopped in th studio and rushed through a 5 song demo. Militias "Fire at Will" was released on Phoenix at $5 a pop selling on the streets of Mill ave. in Tempe. We had some good fun rockin' Phoenix, however the second rhythm/lead guitarist was a tough position to keep filled, as well as the idea of me as the vocalist, which ultimately ended the band. The experience taught me one valuable thing. I couldn't sing. Eager to further my skills (or non-skills) as a front man, I took some vocal lessons from the singer of the 80's throwback band "Metalhead". 5 lessons later I had a good idea how it felt to really sing a song. With that in mind, "A Sight To See" was born. It is one of three songs on this page where I wrote, played, and produced the entire song. Currently, I enjoy "rocking on" every day while pushing to wrap up my project "Alone in the Dark".
