THE HISTORY OF ASCENSION:
In 1999, a group of daring induviduals assembled a posse of talented dancers in hopes to take over the world. Dedicating countless hours in the dance room, the team had built up an arsenal of deadly dance routines and have strategically devised the perfect formula for world domination. While showcasing thier physics-defying dance moves and electrifying presence on stage, these dancers have created a massive cult following, becoming the main topic at every family's dinner table.
Certainly, this was no accident. By a process of natural selection, those who were best fit for survival on the dance floor were chosen to be on the team. The creativity of the Beatles, the strength of the US Marines, and the grace of a flock of flamingos... These traits have come together, culminating in the high point of all evolution to embody human perfection in the form of a hip-hop dance group, today known as "ASCENSION". Darwin was right!
Since then, the Ascension name has become synonymous with words such as "amazing", "revolutionary", and "sexy". Throughout the years, the legacy of Ascension has continued to amaze, entertain, and bring wonder, as well as jealosy, to the eyes of several mediocre dreamers. However, the purpose of Ascension is not to take over the world... well, not entirely. On a more serious note, Ascension is a simply a group of friends who share a passion for dancing and enjoy performing together. When it comes down to it, their main goal is to simply have a good time. And they excel at that.

Ascension Hip Hop was established in 1999 as UC San Diego Chinese American Student Association's (CASA) dance team. Initially the team was created for the purpose of competing in the new competition All UC, where dance teams from each UC's Chinese association would battle.
Since then, Ascension has grown from a small group of students to a well known and highly talented troupe of dancers. Learning from and helping one another, the team works extremely hard to build each other up for the common goal of success and friendship.Although they enjoy the excitement of competition and performance, the members of Ascension know that the team is more about creating a family which supports one another on and off the dance floor, while also focusing on academics. Each year the team strives for more and pushes their limits, and this year is no different.Ascension is proud to be comprised of all UCSD students, being the only competing collegiate team in San Diego. They perform at various functions around campus and the San Diego area, as well as compete in various competitions around Southern California.
