I was born in Northwestern Mexico , and ever since I was very young I felt an intrinsic connection to music – I loved the feel and sound of vinyl albums. When I started DJing at the age of 18, I was especially influenced by 80s dance and disco music, then moved to mixing “new wave†until techno emerged in the early 90s. When I discovered techno’s energy, I was immediately hooked and continue still to incorporate it in my music. I was the resident DJ at Escena Music Hall and ZYX in Monterrey MEXICO , where I also used synths to produce my own house music and remix other big name performers. I am currently perfecting my production techniques with Ramon Amescua from the Bostich-Nortec Collective at the Bostich Institute in Tijuana , Baja California , where I also give DJ classes and impart my love for music. My style has been constantly evolving and maturing, especially with the arrival of such audio software as Properllerhead Reason and Ableton Live in 2000 because these softwares offer the unique opportunity of inventing original sounds. I think the key ingredient in my mixes is the way I transition from one song to the other and within each song, creating different audio landscapes while never losing the vibe that builds from the beginning. I try to do a pre-selection of the music I intend to play, but my sets really depend on the people’s reactions. If I see them responding to certain sounds or grooves, I go with the flow, improvise and give them more of what they want. I think that my music is geared more to those who are moved by drum beats and other percussions, as well as ethnic and raunchy Latin sounds. I incorporate these so people let go of their inhibitions, embrace an evening of hedonistic music and dance for hours and hours. “Music is an exercise in subtle calculations and when you let yourself surrender to it, you forget about the numbers.â€
