About Me

Name: Foxy
Age: 1 yr old
Breed: Shiba Inu
Home: New York
Hobby: Eating Sticks
My name is Foxy, and I am a very special 8-month old Shiba Inu puppy. I am a shelter puppy and was rescued by my mommy in December of 2006. My original owners let me go into the street because after being neglected and not given my proper shots, I was diagnosed with Canine Distemper Disease. I was found roaming the streets shortly after Thanksgiving and the New York CACC found me wandering hopelessly in a park. The pound took me in, but they had no idea of my silent disease and vaccinated me completely hoping that I would find a home. After three weeks of no one claimin me or coming to see me I was put on the euthanization list. Luckily, my savior Sean Casey of the Sean Casey Animal Rescue came and I got me before my life was made short. I went off with him and he posted my adoption and the same day my mommy responded! I went off with my new mommy and she had everything a dog could ever dream of. Life was then perfect again.
Shortly after coming to my new home I became very sick. After weeks and weeks of medication I only got worse. What the vet's had thought was kennel cough was now pneumonia. My mommy helplessly traveled to many doctors for many opinions and all seemed so puzzled. But my mommy and I both knew something was very wrong. She saw that I was gravely sick and almost dying and thats when my mommy decided to contact Sean Casey again.
Sean Casey asked my mommy to rush me to see Dr.Feinsod of the Howard Beach Animal Clinic. My mommy immediately traveled two hours to bring me there. Dr.Feinsod immediatey figured out that had a case of distemper. However he said that he wouldnt give up on me and would do all he could.
Canine distemper disease is a very bad disease that affects unvaccinated doggies and has no medicalcure. While the disease may be fought off by a strong immune system, many doggies lose their battle to the distemper or usually arent given the chance to fight and the disease becomes fatal. The majority of doggies diagnosed with this diease are automatically euthanised because their owners dont want to deal with the expensive treatments and hassles, or they just simply hear how bad it is and that it is fatal, and they rather cut a life short there. But what they dont know is that canine distemper is survivable, its just a shame that many doggies arent given the chance to fight.
After 10 days of rigorous treatment and many doses of optimism, hopes and prayers at the hospital, Dr.Feinsod, helped me fight off the distemper and win my battle. At the end of my treatment,I was back to eating ferociously, wagging my tail and being the typical shiba! My mommy came to pick me up and we were all so very happy!!! Dr. Feinsod said that I will have a normal life and continue to be a normal doggie. Since the disease has been fought off, I can now play with the other doggies and run and dig and chase all the birds and squirrels that run around.
I owe my life to four important people, first to Sean Casey who rescued me from the CACC, then to Dr. Feinsod who gave me a chance and blessed me with his hopes, and then to my mommy and daddy who have given me a forever home and have blessed me with lots of love and kisses every step of the way!
I live at home with my mommy and daddy. I like to go on walks with my mommy, play dress up, listen to music with my daddy and i love to sleep!!!! i love naps! I can sleep all day long! I love my daddy because he is always in the kitchen cooking yummy food and always lets me eat some when mommy isnt around. And I love my mommy because she always gives me kisses and always runs with me and takes me out to play.
Im a Shiba Inu, and we are japanese dogs that are bred to hunt, I'm a tiny doggie but I love chasing anything that moves! My mommy calls me Foxy because everyone says that I look like a little fox and boy do I live up to my name!
