Influences: When I was young-ish, I listened to the standard soundtrack for teen life:
Led Zeppelin, Boston, Aerosmith, and basically anything the radio played.I truly thought, even though I played the trombone in school, these men playing guitars were actual Gods, and that one must GLOW like a heavenly being (or a devilish one in Jimmy Page's case) in order to do this incredible guitar thing. And ya know what?I was OK with that. It was good enough for me that I was able to even LISTEN to this stuff. I didn't need to BE one of them. Then I had a misunderstanding with a baseball, and it busted my mouth up, which subsequently ended my musical exploits with the trombone. Parents bought me a guitar. I write songs. I get a myspace account. My songwriting influences are very simple: Bob Dylan and RadioheadHowever: I will play any Motown I can wrap my fingers around.
AND I enjoy quirking around with newer rock hits and making them acoustically jangle. PLUS if there's a great drinking song with a good hook, I really can't say no. IN ADDITION I try to incorporate at least one girl song per set. That is, a song written or best known as being performed by a woman. JUST AS WELL, I love a great embarrassing song, something that may make people squirm a bit.
Sounds Like:
I have listened to so much music in my time on Earth, that I go to great pains to make my songs sound like NOONE else's.
