Rolando Reyna was born in South Texas, in 1971. He received a BFA from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Holderness Fellow. As a graduate student, he was a two year studio and teaching assistant for New York-based abstract painter, Cora Cohen.
Reyna’s work has been exhibited in several museums and galleries mostly in the Texas and Mexico. His work has been purchased for the permanent public collections at The Art Museum of South Texas, and The Weatherspoon Art Museum in North Carolina. Recently, curators have included his works in group exhibitions at Lawndale Art Center in Houston, and Weil Gallery in Corpus Christi.
Upon returning to South Texas in 2000, he has taught courses in Painting/Drawing, Design, and Art History at University of Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, La Universidad Autónoma “Benito Juárez†de Oaxaca La Escuela de Bellas Artes Oaxaca City, Mexico, Coastal Bend College, Alvin Community College, and Houston Community College.Currently, Reyna is Program Director of City Artworks in Houston, Texas.
