"The Flanks just blew my mind . . . One of the most wonderful shows I've ever seen."
—Brooklyn Vegan
"Nice job. They should turn you up louder."
—Tommy Ramone

"The Flanks are pure, authentic, beautiful, crooked country jug music. The Flanks are that band in the corner of the town hall dance on Main Street. They're those people you've seen every day on your way to work, in various disguises of drudgery, who roll themselves into a crimefighting machine of plucky twang by night.
With a fiddle, a bass, a harmonica, a guitar or two, a banjo, a snare drum, and six voices creating a wall of sound you can't back down from, the Flanks are undeniably one of the greats of Brooklyn Country. From auspicious beginnings at the far corners of this land, with influences as diverse as ska and whiskey, The Flanks have been one of my favorite bands since the first time I heard them in 2004. They remain so to this day. I hope you will go and see them real soon. Make sure to yell for "Rosemaries" when you do. No need to tell them who sent you. They'll know."
Alex Battles, songwriter
Creator of the Brooklyn Country Music Festival..
"Their sound has been variously described as old-time music, jug music, string band music, and 'garage country'; one commentator has said that 'the Flanks are sort of like post-war Blind Willie McTell meets pre-A Star Is Born Kris Kristofferson meets Jimmie Rodgers without the tuberculosis. In other words, you don't want to miss them.'"
