I remember the first time I wrote a song for a girl. I was in highschool and I really wanted to get with this girl named Sarah. Sarah wasn’t really feeling me since I wasn’t on the football team or popular so i needed to do something. I decided i would write her a song and sing it to her so she would fall madly in love with me. Seems like a good plan right?
I wrote Sarah a song called "orange tic tac girl". I showed some friends who liked the song and they thought it was good and would work great. So I was feeling confident and I called her up and asked her to hang out. Sarah said yes and I picked her up in my 77 Monte Carlo(I miss tht car). I drove to a parking lot behind the elementary school near her house and pulled my acoustic guitar out and serenaded her while sitting on the hood of my car. I sang my fucking heart out.
After the song I thought we would just start making out, but we didn’t. My song really didn’t have the desired effect I was hoping for because Sarah is deaf in one ear and doesn’t have the best hearing in the other. This very important fact I was not aware of at the time. It was like painting a beautiful picture for a blind person.
The moral off the story is I didn’t give up on writting songs and my subject matter has never really changed. I wish I could write really serious stuff like Bob Dylan or badass stuff like Guns and Roses but that is not the case for me. I write songs about/for girls. I always have and probably always will.
I wanted to share some of the music I write w/ other people and I figure it may seem a little strange for those of you who know me as the thunderous bass player in the greatest rock band on earth Damone . Enjoy!
