About Me

Who…Me?
I, as in me, or who I am supposed to be,
Possibly who I’d like to be, and maybe who I am…
Nature says I have blue eyes and brown hair,
I disagree.
I say I have brown eyes and blue hair.
Man says I’m an airhead; I can feel his loathing stare.
He thinks of me as his slave; but I don’t really care.
Brown eyes, blue hair.
Woman thinks I’m spirited, too sassy for my good.
She sees me a feather in the wind; but I’m misunderstood.
Brown eyes, blue hair.
My friend understands me, she sees life in the same light.
But what do you think happens when the day turns into night?
Brown eyes, blue hair.
She says that I’m happy; it’s hard to make me mad.
I look for the good in people, rarely see the bad.
Brown eyes, blue hair.
I often am forgetful. I forget the time of day,
Or forget to tie my shoestrings in a forgetful sort-of-way.
Brown eyes, blue hair.
I feel I’m very festive, crazy for each day,
Open to opportunity, ready to fly away.
Brown eyes, blue hair.
Nature says I have blue eyes and brown hair.
I disagree.
I say I have brown eyes and blue hair.
Can you see me?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Colin Powell, Jackie Gleason, Dr. Seuss, Charles Shultz, Jim Henson, Mel Blanc and whoever inspired Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes. (and yes, I do realize some of these have passed on and/or are not real. Just deal with it.)

My Blog

River Rats and Flood-plains

I'm a Midwestern Girl but it goes beyond that... I'm a river rat.  This is a term that my gramps always used with pride as it defines you as anything but a sissy at least.  But the idea of being a rat...

Rest In Peace

We laid Baby-A, Aeva, to rest today.  There's something awful about even seeing a casket so small.  Between her basic small stature and the ordeal that she had been through she only weighed fifteen po...

Hating the thing I've wanted most

I live in a house with three loud children and one amazingly loud husband.  I've often found myself begging for even a moment of silence.  I remember the last time I felt it was when I walked into my ...

Feeding controversy- A blog by a parent who also spanks her kids

Have you guys seen this one on the news?  In short, a mom is driving through town with two screaming kids ages 10 and 12 and kicks them out when they fail to behave.  They were three miles from home. ...

Feeling Buggy

Last fall I was able to achieve a dream.  I am the proud owner of a Volkswagon Bug ("New Beetle," whatever).  I love the old ones, trust me- I do, it's just that I will be putting serious miles on my ...

I'm just not there yet.

More will come.  Whether that's implying more of my time, more of my writing, more to this piece, more to my sharing in general, or just me showing more skin is anybody's guess at this point.  I just ...

Wherever I find myself... I know my place is home

Many changes have been going on in my little world.  This isn't shocking by any means.  Since meeting my husband we have had a roller-coaster ride: pregnacies, kids, house after house, renovation afte...

For the record-

With everything going on this Holiday season, it was hard to feel merry and festive.  Some of you don't know this, but as long as I can remember I have stuck jingle bells on my sneakers the day a...
