Profile GeneratorActually this should not be necessary. It's the music that does the talking, it's the set of a dj that tells how he's lived his music up 'till present day.I first got passionate about it when I heard a rough mix tape of local hero dj Leno. Tapes of long time players Wontime and Shorty and dj sets of Marky, Randall and Andy C did the rest. That must have been 1997, a time when a small bunch of party folks from around the city of Tessenderlo started to get really focused on drum'n'bass. Me, as a young lad, eager to jump on the boat, got myself equipped, went fanatic and not much later found meself playin' before a small crowd of the local youth pub Tessloo. I hooked up with them peeps who later on formed the now late and legendary Crooked Cru. It was a chance for me to get bigger exposure (alongside dj's Leno and Redaiz) and spread my name among d'n'b lovers from all over Belgium.Unfortunately the crooked fairy tale didn't last too long and most of the cru started to explore other musical interests. Not so Iridium. Driven by an unsatiable passion for drum'n'bass music, I decided to stick to my guns and give it a shot on my own. Being on my own doesn't ease the launch of a decent dj career. Nevertheless, I've displayed my skills at several gigs, including Crooked Nights, Just a Vision, Jungle Fever @ StuBru, Grotten van Kanne, Breakdown @ MOD, Red Zone Eindhoven, Rock Herk, Enterrock, Petrol, Star Warz and Pukkelpop. He played alongside the likes of Baron, Beta 2, Tomahawk, Martyn, Nymfo, Wontime, System D, Murdock, MC Jay, Zinc, London Elektricity, Ed Rush & Optical, Skitty, Commix, Logistics, Storm, Klute, MC Lowqui, Redeyes, Fu & Amnesia and SHY FX to name but a few.Confirmation followed in 2005 when I decided to enter Dj-Mania, outplayed (big respect also goes to Kimbo, and all other finalists) all 77 competitors and got crowned best dj of the province of Limburg. It did not remain unnoticed and rock outfit Confuse the Cat begged me to get on stage with them at Pukkelpop, the Ancienne Belgique and the Effenaar. In addition to that I got a slot of my own at Pukkelpop's Boiler Room and at Rock Herk. Needless to say the future looks bright.So what can one expect from dj Iridium at work? A set of me does not know any restrictions. It goes beyond that. Because what is good, must be heard. If you're into the liquid and soulful side of d'n'b, or the dark and heavy side, don't worry, it's all there! And apart from the brand new shit that has come out, you will always find yourself goin' nuts over some classic tunes. But my main focus is the dance floor, because that's what drum'n'bass is about. And you will never feel cheated, because all fine aspects of drum'n'bass are thrown in a blender to form a solid whole. Candy for the mind, candy for the feet...
