I have fears and insecurities like everyone else, but love challenging my comfort zone and really feasting on the flavors of life. The outdoors allow me to drown in the earth's natural wonders and richness. The best high is when I'm jogging. I like to push my body and sweat! Exercise keeps me sane and I love engaging in physically challenging activities. I wish I could play the guitar (that's on my list), but I do play the piano and not as often as I'd like either. I miss my old home of Amsterdam and dream of it daily, but it could always be worse. I love my life in Santa Barbara too!I really like the small and little things in life like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It's on my top ten list of favorite things. I like hearing people's life stories, you learn so much from others. Pen pals are something truly wonderful ... definitely looking to build solid friendships.

Music:

most anything but country ..... Favorites: Linkin Park, Blink 182, Enya, My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Dico! Katie Melua, All American Rejects, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Rachmaninov, Green Day, Beethoven, Cake, Eminem, Beach Boys, Coldplay, and hoards of others.

Movies:

Jarhead, Memento, Donnie Darko, Full Metal Jacket, 8 Mile, Crash, Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan, Proof, Schindler's List, The Pianist, Pearl Harbor (the cinematography is excellent -- story is another issue), Band of Brothers, okay, I love things about WWII.

Television:

Friends and Seinfeld will forever remain in my memory as the best laugh my ass off series. But for now, I'll stick to Prison Break and Nip Tuck ... oh yeah, my guilty pleasure after a long academic day is America's Next Top Model and Project Runway ... they give my brain a chance to do nothing, lol.

Books:

Angela's Ashes, A Farewell to Arms, The Sun Also Rises, The Sound and the Fury, The Great Gatsby, The Faerie Queene (what a bitch to read though), Play it as it Lays, The Awakening, poetry: Rob Carney's "The Man has a Heart Like a Kite," Frankenstein, The English Patient, Colditz Story, etc

Heroes:

General Patton, Ernest Hemingway, Flannery O'Connor, Kate Chopin, Jans Wager - love her book Dangerous Dames and Dames in the Driver's Seat, Anne Frank, Michael Foucault, Oprah, Batman and Rainbow Brite, hee hee.
