Who I'd like to met... hmm.... Is everyone a valid answer? More specifically everyone ever.
and ive already met her3.
Rock mostly. I've also been listening to a lot of alt-country (whatever that is) recently. Lots of old school punk like Sex Pistols and Joy Division. Radiohead, Muse, the Cure and the Smiths, David Bowie, some recent punkesque stuff like Alkaline Trio, My Chemical Romance, AFI, etc. The Pixies. Velvet Underground and some Lou Reed. More recently Guster, the Shins, Grandaddy, and My Morning Jacket (they're from Louisville so REPRESENT) have all been finding lots of time in my stereo. Some 90's alternative like Barenaked Ladies. Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters. The Beatles, the Doors, other classics. A selection of '80's stuff, Disney songs and showtunes. DOWN WITH EMO. Well, I guess SOME of the music is okay as much as it emasculates me to admit it.
Princess Bride. As if there are other acceptable answers. Other slightly less acceptable answers include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Disney cartoons (but mostly only from 1989-1994), musicals (including but not limited to Mary Poppins, the Music Man, White Christmas, the King and I [although I was a far better king than Yul Brenner {he was the king in the movie} could ever dream of], Singing in the Rain, the Producers, and many, many more), Serenity, a lot of comedies throughout time and space (although there are many that just all around blow, but I don't feel like differentiating here), most of the recent comic book movies (they rate anywhere from an entertaining watch to actually quite good [with the exception of Constantine, which while it actually wasn't THAT bad of a movie, I couldn't get past Keanu Reeves being almost the exact opposite of John Constantine in the comics]), probably many others; I'm actually quite easily entertained. EXCEPT BY X-MEN 3. I had to chain smoke like half a pack of cigarettes after watching that travesty just to get the taste out of my mouth. I think I might have lung cancer now. Maybe I'll get a t-shirt that says "Brett Ratner gave me lung cancer." He should be shot for making that movie.
Dresden Files comes out on Sci-Fi this summer. Hell yeah. And Drew Carey reruns. Cartoons of course, especially Cowboy Bebop and Full-metal Alchemist. Whatever mildly humorous sitcom happens to be on when I get off work at midnight. Scrubs is hilarious. Gilmore Girls I guess. Futurama and Family Guy. Umm, U of L games when they're on. Sports eomtimes. Some other stuff I'm sure. I don't really watch that much in they way of television. It rots your mind.
I love anyhing by Neil Gaiman. Even though I'm not sure I'm old enough to read American Gods, but it's a spectacular feat of literature. Jim Butcher is also great. The Dresden Files are fricking superb, and I don't believe I exaggerate -oh god I hope that's how you spell exaggerate, but it's 4:30 in the morning so give me a break, my mind is somewhere on the level of hungover bunnies right now- Anyway, I don't believe I exaggerate when -dammit, hold on I'm checking the dictionary... oh swizzle, I DID spell it right- when I say that everyone should read everything by him. I've been reading a lot of Charles de Lint recently. He's good. And anything by me of course, although that won't really be applicable for a few years. Wheel of Time is the staple for modern epic fantasy. It's highly entertaining. Harry Potter, once I was finally badgered into reading it, was actually as good as people said. Surprisingly and rarely enough. I've also been catching up on Thomas Hardy, who may be the most depressing writer to ever live. And I recently got a set of short stories by William Faulkner and am now bitter towards every teacher I ever had who didn't attempt to shove his writing down my throat. And of course I'll read anything else that momentarily strikes my fancy. I also just finished reading the Watchmen by Alan Moore a few weeks ago. It's the epitome of graphic novel-ness, and even if you don't like comics (shame on you) it's just a spectacular story. Although Sandman is still probably my favorite comic. I have the first like ten volumes. Yes, I'm a sad miserable little man. Oh, and Fables is another great comic while we're on the subject. Which we may not be. On the subect that is. Well, I am, but you're probably not. Oh scrute. Needless to say I read a lot. Working at a book store, I had to promise myself I would only buy a book after reading two I already own. Which is good as I don't give most of my paycheck back to Books-A-Million anymore. But I still feel like I'm barely making a dent in my somewhat hypothetical List of Books I Need To Read. Actually, the list tends to grow by a couple books every week. Oh well. I'm probably rambling now. I do that a lot. Ramble I mean. See, I'm doing it again. I'm going to stop now before this turns into a three page diatribe on me rambling.
Um, can you be your own hero?
