Keep Your Sunny Side Up!

About Me

Hello all! I'm hoping to be a gentle breeze blowing across the landscape of human affairs, soothing frazzled nerves and encouraging community between individuals. In addition, I like to transcend the mundane happenings of my everyday existence and I do it without any apology! Ehh, call me crazy but I like to silently laugh out loud(lokaret),ooh and I'm a FOOD ADDICT!! Well kids, that's the basic (if u give me a quarter I'll tell u more)!!

THE SCULPTOR'S ATTITUDE....
I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.
Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.
Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.
Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind, body and soul.
Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!
What will you choose to do with Today?

I don't like to come across those who are self-interested---Vanity! Vanity! Vanity! However, I do love meeting angels & lost souls: "I was taught that the world had a lot of problems; that I could struggle and change them; that intellectual and material gifts brought the privilege and responsibility of sharing with others less fortunate; and that service is the rent each of us pays for living--the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time or after you have reached your personal goals."-Marian Wright Edelman

*OUR GLOBAL SOCIETY IN PERSPECTIVE*

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, there would be:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans
52 females
48 males
70 non-White
30 White
70 non-Christian
30 Christian
89 heterosexual
11 homosexual
6(all from the U.S.)would possess 59% of the world's wealth
80 would live in substandard housing
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would have a college education
1 would own a computer
70 would be unable to read and write

"If you have a food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead, and a place to sleep, you're richer than 75% of the world's people. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you're among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you're more more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If your parents are still alive and still married, you're very rare, even in the United States and Canada. If you have ever experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you're more fortunate than 500 million people in our global society." Brueggemann
