90s guitar bands-inspired combo Chaise Longue emerged from Jasin, Melaka teaming singer/guitarist Hafidz, guitarist Hisyam, his guitarist brother Mbek, bassist Suboh, and drummer Ewin. Chiefly inspired by the likes of the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Starsailor, Stone Temple Pilot, Kula Shaker and Silverchair, the group nevertheless honed their own unique sound, embellishing their buoyant guitar-pop melodies and undercutting the bubbly cynicism of their angst-ridden lyrics.
Chaise Longue accidentally arose from a combination of the words chest and lung. Those two words finally turned to chaise longue after Hisyam came up with that name. While Hafidz and Mbek just agreed with the thought of that name has a similarity to their favourite Aussie-grunge band's name; Silverchair.
Their music progressed to a more pop-rocking feel from their grunge roots. And there is one word would match in describing their music; evolve. With a number of great bands hitting the scene at the moment, they feel their time is coming. A modern pop-rock band with an individual sound blended from many influences. Welcome to the new definition of chaise longue. Do keep your ears open.
