My Name "D.Y." came from some friends back in Junior High School. They gave me the name and it just stuck through the years. I always told myself that if I ever made it in this industry I would not forget where I came from. So to never forget my friends and the good times that we had back then I kept the name that they gave me.In the late 90's, I worked with a lot of people in the studio. (I don't like to drop names because I don't want to ride on anyone's coattail. I would like my work to speak for itself.) During that time I dropped my first album. There was a lot going on. This album explains some of the things that took place in that time. I took a break for a while. I've listened to many people's albums and wondered; what ever happened to real production and music? Not Diss'n.So now that I've been approached by many people for a copy of my album I decided to bring it back. If you like dope drum tracks, funk bass lines, chords, strings, some cuttin and scratchin every now and then and total collaboration of unique orchestration this album should be in your collection.My favorite prducers are: Quik, Ant Banks, Dr. Dre, Battle Cat, Daz, Original Crew, Magic of Unified Tribe, Quincy Jones, George Duke, George Clinton, Maurice White, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the Purple Guy.
