ENDITY

About Me

2005 saw the formation of the Midwest’s newest, freshest, most intense Hard Rock/Metal band, launching a new wave of driving heavy riffs, thunderous drums, and piercing vocals. Based in Rockford, IL (home of such legends as Cheap Trick, Pistol Pete, and The Good Year Pimps), Endity has become a powerful force in the regional Rock/Metal scene from Madison, WI to Chicago, IL and beyond. With a fusion of heavier sounds and styles, Endity has commanded stages, audiences, venues, and opened the eyes and ears of promoters and nationally-touring acts since their debut.
Endity has had the privilege of performing with several big-name acts, including two shows with Travis Meeks and Days of the New, Red, Flaw, Scum of the Earth, multiple shows with The Good Year Pimps, Shaman’s Harvest, Kicking K8, Evolocity, A New Revolution, Pistol Pete, Agent Zero, Hedder, and Suicide Holiday. Many of the Midwest’s best venues have booked Endity’s performances, including The Rave in Milwaukee, WI, The Back Bar in Janesville, WI, Otto’s Niteclub in Dekalb, IL, Elixur, LT’s, and Forest Hills Lodge in Rockford, IL, and many more.
Much of what makes Endity stand out from the rest are its members and their diverse musical backgrounds: Eric Fishe (drums) has been playing everything from rock to jazz since his childhood, building on a foundation of formal training and a love of music sparked by his father, who was also an accomplished drummer and musician around the Rockford area. Fishe expands his musical talents by writing for piano and vocals, and has an intimate knowledge of songwriting in general. An always-exuberant personality makes Fishe a central figure in the band, radiating his upbeat mindset outward to the other members and to the audience. His fast-paced, furious beats perforate Endity’s music with rhythms that can’t be overlooked.
Dan Ross (guitar) has been the steadfast core of Endity since their formation in 2005, bringing in nearly 8 years of rigorous training on and an inseparable bond with his axe. His musical influences are vast, ranging from classical orchestral/piano compositions to grinding Hard Rock and Metal, including everything in between. Alongside his incredible skills on guitar, Dan has made great strides on the piano in less than two years, and branches out to display his diversity through original solo compositions on guitar, piano, synth, and percussion. There is very little that eludes him musically, and he spends the majority of his time honing his skills, writing, and teaching his art.
Ian Johnson (guitar) is Endity’s original rhythm guitarist and recently returned to the band after a year break from the music scene. Taking Shawn Williams’s place on stage left, Ian brings a fat, chunky tone and driving riffs to fill the heavier end of the 6-string arrangements. His veins run thick with Metal influence- particularly embracing bands like Lamb of God, Primus, and Static-X, Ian’s style is a prime example of pure, raw energy and relentless attack. His stage presence is an invaluable asset that brings excitement and enjoyment to Endity’s live performances and gets the crowd involved both physically and mentally.
Brian Ross (bass) picked up his axe 6 years ago and has never looked back. Brian provides a thick, pounding low-tone to Endity’s music that fills the sonic gap and rattles the rafters. His musical influences take root in classic metal, most notably with bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Rush, Black Sabbath, and many more. His taste for modern music includes Tool, System of a Down, and Rage Against the Machine. His involvement in Endity’s stage performance and his unique bass lines are an integral part of experiencing their show.
Matt Mickelson (vocals) provides the centerpiece of Endity’s stage presence and translates the complex themes and moods of their instrumental music into deep, metaphorical lyrics that sink deep into the minds of audiences across the Midwest. His experience as a creative writer and social commentator is apparent in the band’s songs, particularly in tracks like “Flashback” and “Tell Me.” His vocal style spans from smooth and sweeping melodies to gritty, rough, raging screams that accentuate the band’s heavy edge. Matt occasionally participates in writing instrumental parts for Endity but mainly focuses on lyrics and helps Endity transform raw parts into polished, cohesive songs. Though writing over instrumental parts so full is often a challenge, it is a welcome one that Matt embraces as a way to learn and improve his abilities
Endity’s sound is a primarily guitar-driven heavy Rock/Metal mix of beauty and chaos. Soft melodies give way to ruthless attacks of low-end and distortion, evoking contradictory emotions that mirror those represented in Endity’s lyrics. Splintering guitar solos accent some songs with a classic metal edge, while smooth harmonies serve to sometimes heal the wounds, sometimes tear them open again. Endity’s style could be compared to bands like Tool, Nonpoint, Sevendust, and System of a Down, but they maintain a distance from fitting any particular mold. What makes Endity such a powerful force in music is that their sound is, while unique, also somewhat universal. They’ve shared the stage with bands of all genres, from Blues to Electronic, Hip-Hop to Death Metal, Rock to Acoustic solo. While the heavier style Endity represents is somewhat selective, their talent grabs the attention of any listener, despite their usual tastes.
As Endity’s sphere of influence grows, so does their visibility. Endity has won several Battle of the Bands competitions, been featured on radio stations in Madison, WI, Rochelle, IL, and Rockford, IL, numerous newspaper articles in the band’s hometown, and invited to appear on a Chicago-based music television program. Their music is starting to be picked up on internet radio stations, and people around the world have access to their music video for “Split in Two” on several websites and hosting pages. Endity recently released their first full album with Chicago-based Producer/Engineer Aidas Narbutaitis, whose work can be heard on Endity’s three-song demo CD and on their website.
Endity has had the honor of playing with many nationally touring acts including:
