Special thanks to my friend Tim for sharing in the creation of Enchanted Falls, and to Josh ( nij ) for writing Starz with me, Jodi for singing vocals on Behind the Eyes, and Lori-Ann ( No Escape ) for recording and mixing the vocals and harmonies on Return. :)
Influences: The short version: My moods, the things and people around me, dreams, and of course all kinds of music.
The long version: First my parents. Growing up, my dad and mom loved to sing together. Actually my dad composed a lot of music on his computer too. I remember in particular this song he wrote for my mom. He woke up in the middle of the night with it in his head and had to write it down before forgetting it. My dad would sing and play his guitar with a passion. Unfortunately he got oral cancer last year and hasn't been able to sing anymore.
As I grew up, I always loved singing in choir in both grade school and in high school. My choir teacher, Mrs. Deemer, was awesome and definitely helped me love music even more. She helped me become more confident in singing and performing. My two brothers influenced me in a way too, by getting me into video games. I particularly loved Final Fantasy and the music on it made me want to create my own. All of my friends and family who listened to me play my creations on the piano and told me they enjoyed them helped me love composing my own music.
More recent influences are Josh Sherman ( nij ), by giving me exposure and an appreciation of various types of music, especially electronic music. Also Ken Hill ( Soulwire ), has been wonderful in helping me by giving encouragement and advice. His songs have a unique and soulful style that embodies so many of the aspects I love in music. Lori-ann, No Escape has become an awesome friend too, sharing songs back and forth, giving great tips on arrangement. There is a lot more to come as soon as I get the time...Many different types of music and musicians have been and are still inspirational to me. Some people express themselves with words. I think I can better express myself in music. I hope that as time goes on I can learn more and improve. I don't expect or aim to become anything spectacular. Like my dad has throughout his life, I'm just doing it for the love of it.
