Late 70's missing the point of punk and getting the point of prog five years too late, Jethro Tull, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Gentle Giant "unfashionable to the end", pretentiousness leading to excesses in "Classical" music - Slavonic folk music by Dvorak and Bartok, Orff's Carmina Burana, Vaughan Williams, Walton and Delius, anything Spanish - oh, and Nick Drake (15 years too early)

Early 90's getting the point of great Scottish pop 5 years too late, Danny Wilson, Hue and Cry, The Big Dish, The Waterboys, Blue Nile, Kevin McDermaid, Deacon Blue, Talking Heads, quirky stuff - They Might Be Giants, Bjork, Kate Bush, Edie Brickell, Adrian Belew's King Crimson, KLF
Mid 90's very definitely Blur, not Oasis, rediscovering Hendrix (30 years too late), acid jazz - early Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Morcheeba, nu-folk - the Tartan Amoebas, Bachue Cafe - Massive Attack (of course), not getting the point of the Manchester scene, Crowded House, lo-fi folk - Jim Malcom, Rory McLeod, Michael Marra (genius)
