On the Upper East Side of New York City in the 90's....
In between waiting on tables in a New York City restaurant, Victoria could be found making out with her boyfriend in a phone booth. She would take her 2 greyhounds to the coffee bar on the corner and ponder the mysteries of the universe...how to be happy and how to be successful in the music business. The rest of her time would be spent writing what would eventually become the first songs on two self produced albums. The spectre of 2 drunken stepfathers behind her was evident in the words and dark vibe of the first of those albums, 'Saturn's Child'.
Victoria landed a great gig, a spot in the Tom Tom Club, featuring members of the Talking Heads. They had some hit songs in the Eighties and here in the Nineties were still riding that wave and were now taking Victoria with them. Traveling as far as Brazil and Europe and touring the US numerous times, she would perform in opening slots for Nineties bands like the B52's and the Fine Young Cannibals. She toured alongside Debbie Harry and the Ramones. At a show in LA, she even shared the mic with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. For some of their last ever live performances, she performed with all members of the Talking Heads. And she appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman"...all the while, honing her craft of songwriting and teaching herself guitar.
A slew of gigs at CBGB's, Sidewalk Cafe, and the usual NYC haunts got her noticed and her first self produced CD landed in the Top 30 on Indie College Radio charts across the nation, as well as placing a song on NBC's "Homicide". In her spare time she was recruited to sing support vocals for other artists' records, such as Vitamin C, C&C Music Factory, and the Blue Man Group. Her joy of life became evident in the playful, poppy songs of her second self produced album, 'BlondeStreak'.
Now living in Connecticut, Victoria continues working with her long-time co-writer/drummer/producer, Ray Palagy. Last year they got two songs on NHL and WNBA commercials for ESPN and ABC. Victoria was also called in to do voiceovers for ESPN.
But she says, "Now, more than ever, I want to record my next album, and take my own music on the road." Victoria will do just that. She has begun much of the work of creating her third album. Look for her most Sunday nights at Sully's in Hartford, many Friday nights at the Hungry Tiger in Manchester and some weekends in NYC at the Sidewalk Cafe testing out the new songs. Riding high on a top rated song currently in heavy rotation on radio.wazee, Victoria is preparing to make her mark on the original music scene like she has never done before. Watch for her!
I've written 2 self-produced albums. I have songs that have been in indie films and national commercials. As a back-up for signed artists I've played on stages such as Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall and a daytime soap opera. My dream come true would be to play those places as myself!
