About Me

hi, im JP.

currently studying biochem at KCL. one day ill use this knowledge to create either the *perfect drug*, or large quantities of already available illegal drugs. or perhaps invent a bio-mechanical suit that is tailored to your body and increases speed and strength a thousand fold..

play guitar and piano, and have had the joy of making music with various friends in the past. my main musical project for the last couple of months has been as part of The Rhyme And The Wheel with patrick 'shaved head' lawrence on bass. check out www.myspace.com/therhymeandthewheel. be patient with the songs, its all about the build up!

at this point in time im half way through the story Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. its bizarre, heart wrenching stuff, and short so should have finished it a while ago, but its tough to find time to read nowadays, eh?

my pentax optio got sand in it and broke during an excursion to West Wittington Beach last year, and i havent taken a photo since. its a goddam shame, taking photos was fun. this incredible photo was taken by the delightfully snap-happy lucy on that fateful day, me on the right and tom 'tae-kwan-do' kee on the left in a re-enactment of the climax of Fist of the North Star:

love film, especially unusual ones. big fan of woody allen despite his rocky career, Scoop was quite rubbish, but he has the remarkable ability to always light up the screen with his bumbling presence. neurotic is a word often associated with him (as is narcissistic), i believe he makes films as a form of therapy, instead of disclosing his personal problems to a shrink (which ive heard can be v expensive) he reveals them to a mass audience and gets paid a hefty sum in the process. and if we can all laugh at his on-screen misfortune and feel a little better about ourselves, it seems like everyone wins.. unless he irritates you, which is not uncommon i think.

enough! this is taking too long, im tired, hungry and stoned. im human, ok? i have all the peculiarities common to all homo sapiens, plus some more, minus a few perhaps. constantly changing, a DYNAMIC SYSTEM like a river, but not always moving in the same direction. although am composed mostly of water, like the surface of the earth! 70% i believe.

My Interests

music, mj, film, anime, education, photography, individuality, wine, well written novels, tea, piano, drawing, gigs, 60s culture, well decorated rooms, water, kate bush, house parties, guitar, walking in good weather, psychedelic drugs, interesting people, passionate people, hats, the sun, the mind, sleeping

I'd like to meet:

naruto (the series) is something special. it went from being possibly the best anime EVER, in terms of characters, cool fights and plain intensity of plot, to being the worst ever in a matter of 200 odd episodes. i stuck it out almost to the end, and regret nothing. one must admire the makers for their persistence if nothing else.

Music:

The most frequently played songs on my comp are by bjork, enya, billie holiday, kate bush, lamb, miles davis, jack johnson, frou frou, simon and garfunkel which is kinda strange now that im reading it. My fav bands for a long time were placebo, smashing pumpkins, dave matthews band, and incubus who i do still listen to but recently ive been branching out. My favourite album tho is probably Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, its perfect. Chilled out TRIP HOP/ ELECTRONICA such as massive attack, lamb, boards of canada, tricky etc are great for a blaze in a well decorated room and for insomniacs to brush away the early hours of the morning. i like lots of ACOUSTIC music as i play the guitar and get mashed try to write songs, and listening to others on the acoustic guitar playing great songs theyve come up with is inspiring eg nick drake, jack johnson, acoustic incubus stuff etc. I recently discovered KATE BUSH and she is so great. back in the day she would have been so hot, her vocals are pure and beautiful and almost like a cat eg in wuthering heights and feel it. Some ROCK/EMO/PUNK ETC is fun when the mood suits, but i feel the peak of my interest in this kind of music has past and cant be assed with listening to it a lot. However i love emo/punk gigs as theyre moshy and fun as hell when pissed but not too mashed, eg fall out boy, yellowcard, alkaline trio etc. Ive started to love JAZZ, adding a touch of sophistication to my scummy student life. great when enjoyed with wine and cheese. miles davis' album kind of blue changed my life in its own way.
