deejer’s music reflects the depth of the band’s collective experience. born into music as the son of a singer, lead vocalist chris didear got his start as a drummer and rocked austin’s local scene until finding his voice in deejer. lead guitar and backup vocalist dave erickson’s musical roots are planted deep in alabama and tennessee, where he spent his youth playing and studying music. guitarist jeff hurst is a born-n-bred texan with the drawl and guitar licks to prove it. an upbringing as the son of a texas preacher man echoes in j.r. shirley’s bass rhythm and vocal harmony. drummer gary hopkins grew up on east coast metal in ny, and touring out of las vegas pushed him to create his own dominant and signature drumming style. the blend of the artists’ backgrounds leads to a sound that is at once pioneering and deep-rooted.deejer was formed by the band’s lead vocalist, chris didear. after showcasing in the florida music festival and recording with pete thornton (shinedown, limp bizkit), the group released its debut cd, grief can kill an elephant, in 2005. the album’s first single, farther figure, charted at 27 on the FMQB specialty radio chart, was in rotation on xm radio unsigned, featured in a&r worldwide’s unearthed vol. 3 compilation, and included in the edge magazine’s the real texas edge vol. 3 compilation. the song all i ever wanted reached the top 5 in the heavy rock category of the 2005 independent music awards. another track, the arrow, appeared on alternative addiction’s v.5 compilation.dark summer dawn was recorded and produced by mark dufour (ghostland observatory, blue october) and was mastered by dominick maita (fallout boy, plain white t’s). since it's release, dsd has received specialty spins on klbj (austin), kxte (las vegas) and kiss (san antonio), and entertainment icon shadoe stevens has placed the title track dark summer dawn into heavy rotation on cabo wabo radio (1 in modern rock on live365.com). deejer showcased in las vegas at the 2008 amplify music festival conference in august, and has inked new endorsements with traben bass company and michael kelly guitars. deejer’s dark summer dawn is rock the way it should be played – with power and heart... if you think you know deejer, you will want to listen again. ANTHOLOGY was created in 2006 by drummer Justice Palmer and bassist Skylar Palmer. Through 2 years of trials and tribulations, ANTHOLOGY has finally secured their line up with two new guitarists (Jake & Matt) and a new vocalist (Ben).
The idea was to combine pure Power Metal, with its heavy riffing and thunderous drumming with great bass licks and driving vocals. From the first days, ANTHOLOGY was going to be a recording band, so, in just a few months of completing their line up, the band was in the recording studio giving its self titled EP life.Despite of (or, maybe, because of) it’s very unusual sound; “Anthology†was very well received by the audience and fellow musicians. By combining thunderous drums and aggressive guitar sound of Power Metal with pure growling tenor, ANTHOLOGY creates its own world from the first chord you’ll hear. The title track from the EP, “I put the I in I am Legend†has been submitted to be included on the Promo CD of the prestigious ProgPower USA Music Festival and to Ron Burman of Roadrunner Records in NYC.ANTHOLOGY’s sound and live appearances by the band are not only impressive but contagious. The band has played regionally in Kansas City and SW Missouri; eagerly looking to play in the Fight for Freedom fest in February.
