[Bona Fide]-James Jackson Toth, yourfleshmag.com******************************************** ******************** On March 27th George Brigman Released Rags in Skull, his first all new LP in 25 years! There’s no denying that the 32 year recording career of George Brigman has resulted in much acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic for his infrequent releases. George has been called a "genius" (DJ Cherrystones), his music has been tagged "astonishing" (Jon Savage, Mojo) and his guitar playing was described by David Fricke as a "heady revelation" and by Richie Unteberger in the All Music Guide as "imaginative and unpredictable". The many facets of George’s talents collide head-on in Rags in Skull, and the result is his most fully realized recording ever, a swirling mindblowing collection that finally captures the full scope of Brigman’s moods in stunning bone crunching fidelity. Rags in Skull is the culmination of years of recording and demonstrates that not only has George become a forceful singer, but his guitar playing and songwriting have continued to grow and evolve as well.Take for example "Some of My Best Friends Are Snakes" a swirling pounding tune about betrayal—"if not for you, I never would have known..."—that features more of the slashing, spiraling distorted guitar George is noted for. This time the full frontal attack thunders through the speakers with raw fury! That track is followed by the riff heavy rave up "Goin to Pieces" a crunching proto-metal tune whose heaviness is offset by George’s soft vocals giving the tune about cracking up an unusual sinewy feel. The riffs fly out of George’s gutiar like st elmo’s fire and you suddenly realize that George’s muse must be innate and his guitar may be possessed! Brigman’s tunes shine and his guitar playing soars over all. His rapid fire licks continue to amaze and burn as bright as ever now.Another rocker "So This Is Life" features George reflecting on the emptiness of life while his guitar wails and the drums pound relentlessly in direct contrast to the weary lyrics. The stunning tune is yet more proof Brigman has grown wiser and has channeled his efforts into a flowing , powerful sound filled with depth and beauty. Although George still has his defiant attitude, Brigman is no longer the angry teenager who recorded Jungle Rot . Now a seasoned musician who has aged like fine wine, Brigman fulfills his early promise by delivering another rich work that will stand the test of time. George Brigman is taking you for a trip where music is unpredictable and fresh, and Rags in Skull is but the latest chapter in an incredible career that started back in 1975 and is still going strong! Yes, it is a great thing that George Brigman is still doing it–now more than ever!....................................................... ..................................................FLASH! OUT JULY 11TH! JESUS LOVES THE LEFT--20 SONG CD OF BLAZING PUNK ROCK! FIRST TIME ON CD IN YOUR FACE 80S PUNK THAT YOU NEED TO OWN! MORE TUNES ON THEIR PAGE TOO AND MORE INFO ON OUR SITEAlso George Brigman and Bona Fide have licensed the track "Blowin Smoke" to Poptones in the UK for inclusion on the prog/pysch comp Cherrystones Word by DJ Cherrystones which came out last November. Thank you Mr. Cherrystones for having excellent taste! Bona Fide started in 1982 with the release of The Return of the Young Pennslvanians a comipilation of 60 garage bands like the Centurys, the Loose Enz and the Shaynes. We then turned our sights on trying to foster the career of current bands and in 83 released the well received psychedelic comp "The Train to Disaster" which featured the first recording ever by the Left and the first time George Brigman appeared on a label other than his own. We went on to release a Jersey 60s comp "Attack of the Jeersey Teens", two 12" Eps by the Left, the first Yard Trauma LP, another modern comp, "The Deadly Spawn" and the very first Antiseen LP "Honor Among Thieves". as well as the first releases from the Voodoo Love Gods and the Stump Wizards! Along the way we had 7"s by George Brigman, the Velvet Monkeys, Jet Silver, and the Centurys and then started a punk rock archive series with great 45s by the Pagans, and pre-Chesterfield Kings punk from the Tar Babies as well as a Cleveland punk rock all star band, the High Rollers, led by Mike Hudson of the Pagans, who recorded a tribute to Stiv Bators. Right around there we had enough and dropped out to enjoy life. But we are back, smarter, wiser and ready to rock your socks again! If you dont believe me check out the tunes on this page as well as George Brigman's and youll see what I mean! ..

Band Members:George Brigman . Waitin On A Train , and The Left ...................Bona Fide Records exists for the purpose of unleashing high octane music on those who still care and might not wanna follow the crowd. We are artist focused and try to expose derserving artists who somehow dont fit it with the flavor of the month crowd. We released a wide variety of music both new and reissued in the 80s but quit the biz due to all the BS. Now we are up and running again, due to the fact that Radioactive Records in the UK bottlegged George Brigman and refused to pay us a cent! Effin crooks! Radioactive did get its just desserts and is now CLOSED; however, Steven Carr merely changed the name to Fallout and is back releasing boots of American artists though the plug has already been pulled on "his" extensive Hendrix catalog he released on "Reclamation". Consumers beware of the Radioactive Fallout! So we restarted to thwart the sale of the boots and have two gloriously remastered CDs by George out now with extra unreleased tracks, vintage photos and sound straight from the master tapes! Click on George's picture in my friends list to hear even more of Brigman's incredible work that those unscrupulous Europeans keep ripping off! George's first all new CD in 25 years, Rags In Skull is due in late February! We also have an amazing punk rock reissue, the complete studio recordings of Hagerstown, MD's the Left. This 20 song CD has both 12 EPS, It's the World and Last Train to Hagerstown, as well as 4 unreleased cuts. This blazing rock and roll was recorded in the mid 80s down at Don Zientara's Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA. Props to Don for helping us catch the savage intensity with much ferocity! Had the Left had their shit together long enough to tour, they might be a little better known today. Still the vinyl is sought after by those in the know and this is an essential document of a band that created their own scene, long before the cookie cutter punks started appearing in droves. Check out the track, "5 AM", surely the Feel Good Hit of 2006! Stay tuned here for updates on this great release. We will switch tracks to let you hear more too.Dont forget to click on Georg Brigman's pic and check more of his swell tunes on his own page and sign up on our friends lists too! Spread the word around and invite all your friends to check out pages! Sounds like a good idea for a bulletin! Some supremely cool beings already got that idea! Remember to keep the faith and improve the quality of your life by buying our CDs! Thanks!
