About Me

.. "...We do not claim to be like anyone nor do we claim not to be like anyone. We love all kinds of music and are inspired by all that moves us. We say this out of respect to you, ourselves and the bands by which we are inspired."
Until recently Echofall was Freaks Arise. The members remain as do the songs. Why did we change the name? We'd rather have people come to a rock show that allows us to get harder then a Metal show that gets soft.
The body of music we have and continue to write is much like a movie with the dynamics of soft and loud, dramatic and fun, angry and happy, heartfelt and closed up. With our Metal music, it was hard to communicate some of these other emotions. Echofall allows us to be anything we choose while still maintaning a certain level of sophistication and respect for the song.
Echofall Returning To Los Angeles in August
The trip was not only an amazing time for a band to share as a group and a family, but has inspired us to complete the album and to return for a short tour in 5 months! We made more connections and friends in Hollywood and they anxiously await the new songs for television and radio. Details to come...
Third Album Recording Sessions Begin: Milkboy Studios, PA
The third record is turning out to be our first REAL record. When I assisted the engineer in mic'ing the drum kit and had the option to use the same mics used on albums like Zeppelin IV and Reign in Blood, I knew this was gonna be good. Details to come...
For up-to-date shows see the show calendar on this page. We are currently booking shows sporadically while working in the studio, going to Los Angeles and other band related business.
We've played over a thousand shows from CBGBs and Club Obessions up north, to the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlantic City, to very scary bars in Maryland with skinheads pointing at other skinheads with middle finger laser pointers. Current clubs include The Kyber in Old City Philly.
It's a shame but all the good clubs either close shortly after becoming a good club or burn down. RIP Pirates Den. Club 218 South Street was becoming another home base for us and it too is closed for good.
If you have a cool club suggestion, frat party, barmitzvah or Brisk - let us know, WE WILL ROCK YOU INTO ETERNAL JAMNATION.

Influences: This is an odd one. Rich grew up listening to and playing in a thrash metal band for most of his life. Rock was only impressionable on him during his grammer school years and then in recent adult years. The early rock music he wrote was written while still in the metal world and the only rock he listened to at the time was: Zeppelin, Sabbath, Rush, Faith No More, Seaweed, Filter and Corosion of Conformity’s newer material - yet the music sounded like none of these bands but the passion and intensity transcended the genre switch.

The 90s grunge movent and the beginnings of alt rock definetly impacted the song writing but usually from a distance via hanging in cover band clubs, local radio shows, etc.

The few recent bands that absolutely did influence the current song writing would include Lenny Kravitz, Better Than Ezra and Jimmy Eat World.

Some influences happening right now are Taking Back Sunday.

If looking for a band to share a stage with, The Foo Fighters often come to mind. Ironically Dave’s path towards rock is much similar to Rich’s. They both share the same thrash metal history and in the end arrive at the same genre of rock.

Over the years, Freaks Arise (pre-Echofall) became less freakier and more soulful this is why Freaks Arise is now Echofall.
