Dear Friends:
Thanks for stopping by to listen. Simply put, I just love music...creating it, singing it, playing it, listening to it, learning about it. For anyone who may be curious, here's a quick little time line of events for you: My dad taught me to love and appreciate music as a child, and when my mom noticed my interest in the piano, she started taking me to piano lessons once a week when I was seven. Unfortunately, I quit lessons when I was twelve as I got more involved in playing sports, but I continued to play and learn on my own, and I began creating my own songs at that time. I used to be extremely embarrassed to sing in front anyone, even my own family. But around age fifteen, I started to come out of my shell a little and perform publically. By the time I was nineteen, I joined my first band and realized I absolutely couldn't live without doing music in some way. I also started to realize there were so many others out there like me who had a passion for music. I recorded my first independent CD ("Dawn") in 2004, moved to Nashville in 2005, graduated college in 2007, learned a thing or two about myself, and am still living in Tennessee, where I'm working and just released my second CD entitled, "Safe Place to Land".
Like countless others, music is my escape from all the madness and gives a mouth to my heart so it can speak from time to time. I write about what is important to me and about things I've experienced in my short life. I write about whatever God gives me to write about. My songs are what they are, and I try hard not to over analyze what I do or underestimate the power and beauty of simplicity.
To me, music is one of God's greatest gifts in this life. I also believe it's one of the most powerful things in the world. A simple song has the power to inspire, motivate, heal, comfort, convict, and strengthen. It can remind you that you're not alone when you find yourself at your lowest. It can restore happiness where sadness has been. There's no telling what all it can and has done for people. It's my hope that the music God gives me to share with you will do at least one of these things at some point.
There have been many amazing and kind people in my life who have helped to shape me as the artist I currently am...family, friends, other artists, and even strangers. I'm so thankful for those who have influenced me, encouraged me, believed in me, and inspired me in the past and who continue to do so today.
Thanks again for stopping by and for your support!
God bless!
