"IF YOU LIVE IT UP, YOU WON'T LIVE IT DOWN" tom waits*10th and Main in Belmar may have a new vibe come May. After three amazing years, Coffee Blue is set to close April 30th. Anyone that has come to Belmar in the past 8 months or so, can't help but notice the eyesore of a building that houses our own Coffee Blue. The building is under new ownership, and since the change of hands, it's been nothing but problems for us. Everyday we open the store, there's a new problem from the construction. Another hole in the wall, the heat is broken, bathrooms are in shambles, windows falling out of second story apartments, banging, jack hammers, ripping up floors, speakers fall, and the whole building vibrates, (as i type this, another huge bang just shook the entire building...coincidence?) All in all, they don't want us here, are not going to renew the lease and so, it made sense to take an offer and gracefully bow out.We can not thank everyone enough for the utmost dedication, loyalty, frienship and business that kept us going. For the past three years, Coffee Blue has housed the areas artists, poets, bohemians, chess players, writers, losers, winners, drunks, recovering addicts, and have welcomed an open forum for music, art openings, poetry, plays, performances and the like. We've grown so much here, and built so many amazing relationships and memories from our time here.
We welcome and invite everyone that has EVER stepped foot in here, to come make this last month an amazing one, and go out the only way Coffee Blue knows how to...BIG.
