My Interests

Different background pic, same motif. This time I am scrambling around the sandstone of Red Rock Canyon, outside of Las Vegas. You can still tell its me, cus the receding hairline LOL (and receded as well as grayed since Harney 05). I like to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and quiet. Im not a tree hugging hippie (tho I do side with them more often than not), and not a rifle shooting redneck (yikes), Im a victim of self absorbtion and too much spare time. Im a net hound, my goal is to learn something new and useful everyday. I always find something new, just not always useful. I like video games and am a computer nut, have been making my own 'boxes' since the 486 days (for those of u in the know). When the weather turns warm, I like to travel. By way of roadtrip usually, tho I have taken a cruise. I realized a few years ago that there was alot more of this country that I hadn't seen yet, and I'm not getting any younger. So for the last 2 years I have went on roadtrips to see the things that I used to think were so far away as a child. Unfortunately those things take time and money for which I have to work for the other 50 weeks of the year:) Regardless, I have some newfound interests which are hiking and rockclimbing as a direct result of my going to the rockies year before last. While hiking and climbing, I enjoy photography and videography.

I'd like to meet:

Peepo who have da smarts in der head, and a sense of humor. Also people who aren't offended easy, as I'm sarcastically lethal and have been known to say the wrong things at the right times. I also find well traveled people intriguing.

Music:

Guess Im really starting to sound like an old fart, but Im still a fan of Electronic music in most forms. But my overall taste in music would be best described as 'ecclectic' at best. Names that come to mind are as follows and in no particular order: Orbital, Beck, Air, Dead Can Dance, Janes Addiction, Gotan Project, Jerry Reed (yes Jerry Reed), Lazyboy, Pink Floyd, NIN, Lemon Jelly, Social Distortion, Tear Garden, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Orb, Bob Marley, Conjure One, Alice in Chains, Allison Krauss and Union Station, Rage Against the Machine, and Dr. Dre among many many many many others. Those are from just the 90s or so till now, I still enjoy many many more artists from before that period as well.

Movies:

Movies that critics usually do not like are usually a prerequisite for me to love them. Movies that are obscure or seemingly horrible are usually what I gravitate to. My personal DVD collection spans from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to Logan's Run, from Princess Bride to Yellow Submarine. Smokey and the Bandit 1 and 2 are true treasures. Though seriously, the movies that moved me most in my life are my favorites. Such as and in no particular order are: The Natural, The Color Purple, and Dances with Wolves.

Television:

Big fan of LOST. I wanTED to have a beer with John Locke, lately he's been a putz.Other than Lost, I don't watch network shows much. I'm a documentary kinda person, so I get into History, PBS, Discovery and Travel channels, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. I know, sounds kinda boring, but hey its what I like, I make no apologies :)I have now found a fondness for NBC's 'Heroes'. The writing and production is on par with Lost, and should prove to be even better as all the characters develop.

Books:

Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan--Otherland trilogy by Tad Williams--Body of Secrets and A Pretext for War by James Bamford--House of Bush, House of Saud by Craig Unger--My Jihad by Aukai Collins--The New Jackals by Simon Reeve

Heroes:

Ben Franklin - Quite possibly the smartest man of his time, and quite the ladies man too!Teddy Roosevelt - His foresight and legacies still thrive to this day in the form of our National Parks.Franklin D. Roosevelt - Guided our country in its darkest hours, at a time when friends were few and enemies were powerful.Mahatma Gandhi - Showed the world that conflict doesn't have to result in bloodshed.Dennis Rodman - Cuz I needed a benchmark for the other heroes to attain...and he played for the world champion 89-90 Detroit Pistons :D
