The Texas Barflies officially started in 1997 consisting of Sam Waddy, Rhett Warren, Brian Shoemaker, and Chancy Pray. Mostly, we gave ourselves a name and played till all hours of the morning around a campfire or a house party. Occasionally we started to play bars around Mineral Wells usually playing for free or for all the beer we could drink. In early 2005 some new members were added to the band to replace Rhett and Chancy who had both moved to DFW. Philip Brawley was brought in to play bass guitar, Dean Smith was brought in to play steel guitar, Eric Dyess took over on drums and Mike Dinwiddie was brought in to play lead guitar. Stephen "Brother" Bush runs our new sound board and plays a mean booty mix in between sets. We are currently booked several times a month in and around Mineral Wells and have even been hired to play as far as Dallas and Houston. Over the last year we have been privileged to open for such great acts as The Bellamy Brothers, Deryl Dodd, Tommy Alverson, Larry Joe Taylor, Ed Burleson, Cooder Graw, Terry Rasor, Big River, and Rusty Weir. We hope to continue to keep a busy schedule and appreciate all the support we have been given.
