New Beat Society was formed in August of 2005 as a three piece group with Ben Soltau on bass, Justin LeDuc on drums, and Chris LoRang on saxophone. After picking up trumpet player Brett Messenger and vocalist Kathy Ruestow late in 2005, the band started getting strong recognition in Iowa City.
