Dirty Loop Music originally started out as a recording studio in Cincinnati, OH. In 1997 we began to release to the public some of the music that we were making in the studio. Since then we have been located in Cincinnati, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and have now settled in sunny Los Angeles.
Our release schedule has grown from being strictly vinyl to include more than a dozen releases per year in all formats, distributed worldwide. Dirty Loop Music is home to the independent record label Mush Records. Mush puts out a wide range of music that might fall into the following categories: electronic instrumental, underground hip-hop, downtempo, abstract hip-hop, experimental, indie-rock, jazz-based grooves, turntablist compositions, electronic pop, saturated folk, left-field, dreamy stuff, more versions of hip-hop, and on and on. We can't really figure out what to call it all - to us it's just music that we believe in and listen to. Mush releases are vinyl EPs, seven-inches, ten-inches, full-lengths (vinyl and cd), DJ tools (vinyl only), picture discs, and DVDs. Mush frequently licenses music to record labels outside of the US to help get the music out there. Some of the labels we have teamed up with are Rough Trade (UK), Ninja Tune (UK), Big Dada (UK), The Leaf Label (UK), Tri-Eight (Japan), & Records (Japan), Spunk (Australia) and others. Mush songs are also commonly featured on music compilations, skate videos, movie soundtracks and television shows.
Mush is distributed exclusively through SC Distribution (www.scdistribution.com). SC utilizes ADA Distribution (www.ada-music.com) in the USA and also sells our product to other distributors in the USA and around the world. Examples of these secondary distributors are Cargo (UK) and Differ-ant (France). If you are interested in carrying our product, please contact SC Distribution for availability and pricing, or to find out which distributor in your country is currently carrying Mush. Digital Rights Agency (www.digitalrightsagency.com) is Mush's distributor for all digital services including iTunes and eMusic.
