About Me

Joel Xavier has been professionally dj-ing since 1994 when he co- organised Warehouse parties in London under the Kinky Kaos moniker. When the British laws changed they decided to move their successful night along with their loyal and ever growing following to several clubs in the centre of London - naming the venture after his co-owned record label - Whoop! Both the club and more so the label have been instrumental in shaping the upfront house sounds of today. The new Whoop! night back in 94 went from strength to strength taking place at many venues including Bar Rhumba, Ormonds and the Ministry of Sound. In 1995 Joel and label and then dj partner Andy Lekker decided to take the night from monthly to weekly and to do this they teamed up with top progressive night Loosen Up and its residents; Andy Lekker, Nick Hook and Terry Marks to form Whoop It Up. They found a permanent home every Friday at the Gardening Club (previously home to Club for Life, The Pinch and The Betty Ford Clinic amongst others) at the heart of Londons West End and set about a progressive based night that would become quite special.Whoop it Up played host to the cream of the worlds djs for over 6 years, famous names have included Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul, Mark Picchiotti, Rob Tissera, Dave Seaman, Parks & Wilson and many more.Switched on clubbers, a havin it atmosphere and the fact that they can play upfront with no concessions has inspired djs who demanded to spin at Whoop It Up, making the club night not only a great party night, but also THE place to hear the best cutting edge house in the world. At their 5th Birthday special guest Seb Fontaine had one of the best nights hes ever had dj-ing.Quality house music was pioneered by Whoop It Up and backed by Whoop! Records, one of the UKs / worlds leading house labels. In 2000 Whoop!s new funky sister Kinky Vinyl was born pushing musical boundaries and gaining a huge worldwide fan base,Joel was the monthly resident at The Kitchen, Dublin (U2s club) and guests all over the world . He plays at nights all over the world from Israel to Hong Kong, presenting Whoop! / Kinky Vinyl nights. More recently he has been resident at top London Club Bar Inigo. He is also a UK tastemaker & hype dj giving him access to the latest upfront music around. All this can assure any club / promoter that Joel Xavier is one of the scenes most respected A&R people/executive producers, co owning two of the worlds most renowned labels who has 10 years plus of DJ-ing experience and thus can play to a crowd and ensure a quality night of the best house music anywhere!Joel also looks after and manages some serious worldwide talent such as Glide&Swerve (Gung Ho), Anton Nuemark, Rezone and Jozef Mihalik.
