I live in US for almost 7 years now and people say my English is very good and have trouble believing that I'm a foreigner. Only those closest to me get to hear all the funny things I say, like "the boat was swimming, or whatever it is that boats do", or my latest 'jewel' and the current joke among my friends: "the what?". Truth to be told, I have trouble holding on to my accent and sometimes I 'force' myself to speak with a think Russian/Ukrainian accent.. which lasts all the 3 sentences of 10 seconds whichever comes earlier :P
I speak 2.5 languages as I like to call it. Why 2.5 you might ask? Because I'm fluent in Russian and English, and USED to be fluent in Ukrainian. In my family, we speak Russian at home, I grew up speaking Russian.. and only learned Ukrainian when I went to kindergarten. Nevertheless, I'm still Ukrainian! :P I haven't spoken Ukrainian since I got to US, so it's hard for me to suddenly start speaking it. I still have no trouble understanding and writing in it tho!! :) :)
Currently I'm a full time student at University of West Florida, working on my History: European Studies degree. I still don't know what I want to be when I 'grow up'... Oh well.. maybe when that 'growing up' actually happens I'll get an idea? :P
And for all of you who's interested, this is a nice video of my hometown in Ukraine :)
Oh, here is a collection of quotes people said about me, which I ABSOLUTELY loved!
"You are sneaky and clever, and a slight bit devious, and that's why I like you. " by Joe
"Modest but with a sense of pride or cockyness, heh." by Saikosomatic
"Hey, you delightfully independent woman, as strong as you are beautiful." once again by Joe.
"Well, here in America we're not used to woman w/ such high class and elegance and so when we see it, we're in awe." by Rob aka Ducky
