I am here for Friends

About Me

Well, this question causes a hugh circle of thoughts-In the begining- I was born in Motown(Detroit). My grandfather spent his whole life working for Henry Ford and the Mercury "Cougar"was his dream/fame car. My father died in his 40's from Alcoholism and was really never a figuire or part of my life. One of the few reasons that has kept me sober for quite some time. My wonderful Mother has been more than a mother to me and is quite well in mind, body, and spirit. She lives and runs a health food co-op in Brookings, Oregon. I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Prince William Sound of Alaska (Cordova, Alaska). I still live between the back woods of Alaska and the waters of San Francisco Bay. But slowly migrating towards Oregon, as all my imediate family lives there now. After High School, I went back to California and became part of the counter-coulture of the 60's & 70's, was sorta one of the original hippies. I attended 100+ Grateful Dead shows and many others. I have always had a love for travel, by age 21, I had rode a horse across Mexico (Pacific to Carribean), lived in the Longondonian Rain Forest and amoung the pyramids of the Yucatan. After a few bad years, riding Harleys with motorcycle gangs in california, I came back to Alaska and spent the next 20 some odd years, working and traveling everywhere in Alaska, on land and sea. Spent 13 winters fishing crab in the Bering Sea and Kodiak Is. Summers gill netting salmon in Cook Inlet and Prince William Sound. I have worked in the oil fields of Cook Inlet and the North slope of Alaska as a pipe insulator, tundra buggy operator, and captain of oil spill response boats in the Beautfort Sea. I've built 3 homes and cabins. Did asbestoes abatement through out Alaska. I've owned and operated my own Taxi Cab company. I've had three major relationships, the first wife, produced a wonderful son, now 28, but only lasted a couple of years, mostly due to drug & alcohol use on both our parts. The 2nd wife, lasted 14 years, raised 3 step children through elementary school on to Adulthood. Good years, comm. fished Salmon as a family, grew our own food, provided wild game and fish, canned, dryed, & smoked everything. Did artistic projects togather, but ended during hard times, drug & alcohol use and the loss of good unity and companionship. third woman/wife lasted about 2 years, met while both clean & sober, but her sobriety did'nt last and went way off my chosen path....so out the door she went, peaceful and non- violent on my part, but not on her part. Since that time, i've kept on the same clean & sober path, stayed single, and found some serenity in life, at one with the Mother Earth and Sister Sea, aquired dream alaskan property, a small realty income and a dream sailboat and was happy after many years of working very hard in adverse conditions, lived the ups and downs of raising a family and the trials and tribulations of drugs, alcohol, and relationships. Only to be dianogsted with a terminal illness and after a couple years of mental angish and a very rough chemo/theraphy treatment. I have beaten this illness and looking at a new lease on life, and have offered my experience and support to others that have this illness through Phil Lesh's site (Philzone.org)and my our local hotline. I am now following my dreams, make my plans, to travel again, and hopefully to share this goodness with a woman of my dreams/a companion for life/a very best friend to share love, happiness, work, lust, laughter, nurturing, creativity, wellness, kindness and new experiences forever.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

A woman that will be indepentant and freedom-loving like me, but be a true honorable companion and my best friend through thick and thin, to live life to the fullest and not in the standard normal mode. To share responsibilities and not be over bearing and/or sublimental. To put up with my tenacity, my sometimes stubborness, my realistic and practical ideals, my enterprising ways, my humanitarian deeds, my intuitiveness and determination in life, my easygoing and pragmatic nature, and to be romantic, supportive, loving, and willing to give each other their personal space, when needed, and to share ideas and knowledge with each other.
