Scottish songwriter, photographer and poet Sarah DeShields recorded her first solo EP "sacrifices" in 2003, a collection of rock and folk songs written during her university years. She then went on to make another EP when she moved to the states in 2005 that was mainly distributed at shows, called "Small Stories". She took a break for a year whilst preparing for the birth of her first child, and is back now working on a new folk album:"I'm really excited about getting back to my roots. Its going to be very folky, very nostalgic, and uplifting. I hope this album will remind people of home, wherever that may be"Sarah is also a key member of electronic rock band "broadcast safe" and they will be recording an album also in the coming year.
"I love that I get to be experimental with broadcast safe, it draws out a part of me that has been hidden and been burning to be set loose."

Whatever I do artistically is an act of worship to a God who is worthy of it all and more. He gave me everything I have"here's a smashing review from a live radio gig Sarah did in England
"I've always been a fan of statistics that are made up on the spot, so here's one for you:
For every 50 good singer/songwriters there's one who offers not only fantastic material but also a mesmerising performance.
If that were true then I'd definitely class Sarah DeShields as one of the few outstanding performers.
Sarah's crazy yet captivating vocal style has been compared to Tori Amos and even Dolores from The Cranberries.
However she hasn't fallen into the pit of angst where Ms Amos seems to find her inspiration. On the contrary Sarah's songs exhibit a touching warmth.
Rather than taking betrayal, war and despair as her subjects Sarah looks to her faith in God and her own frailty. The result is challenging, moving and often uplifting."
