About Me

So yah, theres a bio, but Im much more approachable then it may seem to read. A business partner and I own and run an event production company based here in DC that handles government and corporate events as well as festivals and concerts. I do a lot of travel but mainly for work. I also have doubled as a helping hand in the Buzzlife crew for many years. I would put up my schedule but its to much to maintain for myspace, but it is a good source for me to keep in touch with friends so I like myspace sometimes. I do wish people from my hometown would say hello because everytime I'm there, I'm always up to hanging out. Anyways, drop a line if you want. See you at the next show!

DJ biographies in general have become stale, exaggerated, and basically “empty” reads over the past few years. The survivors of the American dance scene’s recent darker years (post mega-rave era) are the true soldiers who continue to march to the funky beats. Enter Mark G – project manager, promoter, & deejay. Having been embedded in the dance scene over the last decade, the maturity curve for this young man has fully bloomed, and countless mid-Atlantic clubbers hear his name mentioned from all aspects of the scene’s past and present roots.
It began in the early to mid-1990’s, as Mark discovered dance music in the Rio Grand Valley of South Texas. After relocating to Pennsylvania, he immediately made the leap to promoter. From one off events, to weeklies, and managing a roster of artist talent that stretched from New York, California, and St. Louis, his career began via ‘Luvchild Entertainment’ - his own creation. He was quickly recognized by the local reputable “New Energy” production outfit, and began serving the venue’s needs while playing a substantial role in entertaining thousands in the process.
As the 1990’s came to a close, Mark relocated to the Washington DC / Baltimore area, and continued to build his production resume by hosting the bi-weekly “Complex” event in Baltimore, MD. As the networking consumed Mark’s time in his new breeding ground, he met a Washington DC local DJ in 2000 by the name of Lexus King. A few drinks & conversations later, and the Instinctive Grooves project was formed!
Mark sat in the driver’s seat, and took off with the support of a local dj group, and formed one of Wash DC’s most influential, and successful production/artist management outfits the city has seen in it’s local underground dance scene. To this day, as with most of Mark’s projects, the group continues to thrive hosting events with the likes of Alex Peace, Josh The Funky 1, Steve Smooth, and Dj Swamp, to name a few, and the future of the group continues to climb.
In parallel with his newfound relationship with Instinctive Grooves, Mark’s reputation for quality event production found it’s way to Washington DC’s top EDM event production company – Buzzlife – and Mark was hired by legendary DJ/promoter Scott Henry as the new production manager for all Buzzlife events. To this day, Mark continues to work with the world-renowned group hosting international / national acts week in, and week out, from hosting one of America’s most treasured weekly club nights at Nation – Wash DC, to the staple “Buzz tent” at the annual Starscape Festival, to outdoor concert style “massives” for legendary radio station WHFS.
So why did Mark G become the man who he is today? Where did the passion come from? The motivation to sacrifice sleep, healthy food, and breath smoky nightclub air can sometimes wear thin for the long-term employees of the dance music scene. To simplify Mark G is like a complex series of number crunching ratios, as his diversity of interests is comparable to a day in the life of a financial analyst reducing risks for his clients’ portfolios. Djing for this lad is an outlet of communication that offers him more freedom to be simply, Mark G, without the constraints that many music artists face everyday. Event production offers similar therapeutic benefits, as it is the entertainment of the people, the smiling faces, and the dancers of the night, that provide this individual the satisfaction to wake up each morning, and be proud of the career he has fostered and continues.
It is from this experience that leads us to today, a budding career on the verge of explosion. The forecast has been calling for music production in the near future, and with the level of expertise and support from established producers, it will be no surprise to see the advancement of this up & comer from regional to national/international status in the future when time prevails.
